I personally don't believe peace is possible there. You have two groups that adamantly claim the same piece of land. Neither is willing to give up that land which is scarce and therefore extremely valuable. Additionally, the land has significance ancestral value. Finally, one side even refuses to acknowledge the other sides' right to exist. This state of affairs will exist until one side is forced off the land permanently.

Finally, one side even refuses to acknowledge the other sides' right to exist. This state of affairs will exist until one side is forced off the land permanently.

If the Palestinians had a Ghandi instead of an Arafat they would have already had a state. The Jews are empathetic with the oppressed.

The best way for peace is to convince the Palestinians there is no better deal. By ignoring the 1967 UN agreement and avoiding Jerusalem and continuing the anti-Semitic rants, the Europeans are giving the Palestinians hope. The western world needs to be united against the idea that Israel and the Jews can be exterminated.
