So Liberty has a better chance to beat us than ECU does, WOW!
They have us projected as the second worst team LU plays all season. That game has me very nervous. If we can beat both LU and ECU I'll be quite pleased.
ECU is after VTech, correct? Might come down to injuries.
East Carolina plays North Carolina, then at Virginia Tech and at South Florida before they play us.

If that's the case LU could go winless!COGS
No conference, no long-term goals, no matter 07-coffee3

I think five wins, as they're projecting, might be a best-case scenario even factoring in the two FCS games, but there's definitely victories to be hand. Hoping ODU isn't one of those games, but again, the first home FBS game introduces a whole host of X factors that won't be present for the rest of the schedule, so who knows?

And

No place in this thread
Did you make a thread for each game this fall....in May?

ECU has been horrible since the staff changes. I see no reason that changes for this particular game.

Their SBNation season-preview headline is :"Scotty Montgomery needs a miracle"

W for the good guys.

I hope so. That would be a very big win for our program, even if the Pirates are down. It would be a tough choice, but if I had to pick a victory over only one of LU or ECU, I think Id pick ECU.

Agreed - to think this is an easy win is presumptious. They are a proud program from a substantially better conference. They will have the psychological and home field advantage. I will be thrilled if we get the W.

We have a QB somewhat now.
I think we will slide by Liberty like we did Albany last season.
Albany, I think was a more formidable opponent as opposed to Liberty.
Liberty can just say they beat a very bad Baylor team last season.
ECU will be a different story. Do we win this one? Probably not. Bobby Wilder doesn't know how to properly hype up his team in big games. He will admit to the camera that X is a better team than us and I can only imagine what his is telling the kids in the locker room. Its all about coaching. Look at what Lane Kiffin did at FAU. They went from a 3-9 team to an 11-3.

Old Dominion needs to start making some plays.
I think the only game we were not in last season was the Middle Tennessee game -that's because the Defense was exhausted. Offense has gotta pull weight and make plays in 2018. Regardless of a new stadium on the horizon, I think Monarch nation wants to see some wins against teams other than Charlotte and FIU. Sure, we played the better teams in our league close and we should have won that NT and WKU game and if we had the Offense we had in 2014 with the 2017 defense, we'd win that Marshall and VT game. YES! That VT game was winnable! Too many dropped passes and crappy blocking! Next season all around has me concerned. Two cupcakes on the schedule in 2018.
In 2017 JMU destroyed ECU 34-14 with over 600 yards of offense.

No pressure. JK

Good luck. I will be pulling for ODU.

04-cheers Hopefully we will be in the same conference again soon. Football would be fiercely competitive - basketball...we’ve got your number:)

Problem with that comparison is the Dukes likely would have beaten the Monarchs last season too. Ya'll had a tough team and both ECU and ODU were down.

Not for long. Ground was broken on the United Bank Center a few weeks ago. JMU basketball will be strong again.

Not much to see now but check out the JMU board for a live video cam. TUBC is gonna be sweet.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like JMU is getting a version of the Ted and Mitch practice facility. That’s great - and I hope you regain your former glory. We need to be able to schedule in-state rivals where the win is meaningful for both sides.
