commits to St. Bonaventure who beat UCLA in the NCAA tournament this year. I guess we all agreed he was our best signee when we got him. Probably be hard for Darrell to get someone as good, this time of year, who will help us immediately. But I am certainly high on freshman signee Kamani Johnson's future. It seems like Darrell has signed some talented bigs to go with our returning strength at the guard position: Tucker, Burns, Pippins, and Lottie.
Don't expect a league title, but DW might piece together enough talent to be competitive, at least, which we were not last year.
Coaches were saying, all last year, that our 2 best players were not on the court (Tucker and Burns). It may be a little like when fans always think the back-up quarterback is better than the one on the field. Still, I do believe these two players will be really good for us next season as 4th year juniors. I think Darrell adding a couple of really good pieces is key. Amani may be a future star, but will only be a freshman next season. I think getting a solid senior transfer or juco could be really big.

I still don't know what "realistic" would be until I see how we finish with our recruiting. Depending on our OOC schedule, I am hopeful we can get to .500. Maybe a we could go to the CIT or CBI, if we finish 17-15 or so. It sure worked for Loyola, who won the CBI, a couple of years ago and then got to this year's Final Four.
If we don’t earn one of the 4 byes it will just be another disappointing year.

A bye would be really nice. Not playing until Friday would be really nice and make may travel plans a lot simpler. I'm certainly not "expecting" that to happen in Darrell's first season. I would be thrilled with a middle of the pack finish, after finishing dead last this season. Of course, middle of the pack (6th) is not all that far from a bye (4th). So maybe it is within the realm of possibility. Still it would require us to be much better, and a number of teams much worse to jump 8 spots.

if we get 1 of the 4 byes it would be a amazing amazing surprise that i dont think any of us realistically expect. i dont think many of us expect to be in the top half of the league much less top 4

No one can ever accuse you of being overly optimistic, but I would tend to agree with you on this. Hard to imagine us in the top 4 next season. Even upper half is a reach, but I am hopeful that can happen.
So, with the hiring of Darrell we lost 3 players I definitely would have liked to have Cocoran, Oliver, and Moreaux. Also, Reedus was a shooter, which is always nice to have around. Never will know for sure if Cocoran would have left regardless, but I kind of doubt Oliver and Reedus would have. I am reasonably confident that Darrell can replace what we lost, but that is still to be seen. Kamini Johnson definitely looks like he can be a big time player for us.
