At least one memo was classified, and the memo release confirmed it. Plus, the memos, taken in the course of work, were FBI property. So for that reason alone, they were improper to leak, as Comey would well know.

The really big enchilada is if any of the leaked memos were deemed (not marked, but deemed) classified at the time he leaked them. He might be able to get away with saying a democratic women was ignorant of the law, but he's going to be hard pressed to think he can claim ignorance.

I dont really know how Comey gets out of this. Frankly, with McCabe claiming Coney told him to do the leaking, it sure looks likes Comey was kind of a pro at this leaking thing. He did the dossier briefing with Trump because CNN told him to (so they could finally get this titillating op-research garbage on the air). Additionally, per McCabe, it appears he had McCabe leaking to further his Comey's purposes. Then Comey leaks classified documents to his buddy to feed to other news outlets so he can get trigger a special investigation. Comey wants to make it seem like feeding documents to his buddy wasnt against the law and was very much a "one off" kind of thing. I think Comey's full of it on both counts. What we have is an emerging pattern of behavior. I think what Comey did violated the law and leaking was probably commonly done when it suited his needs.
