Gets the SEC into (1) North Carolina and (2) Virginia... eliminates two mouths for the ACC football schools to feed*. Then perhaps the ACC could add (1) WVU, (2) Iowa St, (3) Kansas St, (4) TCU, (5) Texas and (6) Baylor, while the SEC adds (3) OU, (4) OSU, (5) Kansas and (6) Texas Tech. Both conferences at 20. DONE.

* I'd like to send Wake Forest and Duke but this is a theoretical, not a fantasy.
SEC + Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, TCU
ACC + Texas, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa St, Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston

You and I were talking about equitable value the other day. And while there is some jest here, the simple truth is those would be the best schools for the ACC to get rid of but for slightly different reasons.

And what is mentioned below your post doesn't miss the mark by far. If a true trade was to occur that would cement the ACC clearly in the top 3 if not top two conferences then trading Duke and UNC along with Virginia to the SEC who then could add T.C.U. to the West and pick up Kansas, and Oklahoma State would give us a grouping that we would be academically happy about from the ACC, plus Kansas, and would give us the penetration and presence in DFW that we want market wise (OSU/TCU).

The the ACC could do the following:

Add West Virginia and Notre Dame in full.

And add Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

Add Cincinnati

So now your conference would look like this:

Cincinnati, Iowa State, Louisville, Pittsburgh, West Virginia

Boston College, Syracuse, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech

Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest

Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech

This does amplify your football value and profile.

Now you likely have division champs that include Louisville/West Virginia, Notre Dame/Virginia Tech, Clemson/F.S.U., Texas/Oklahoma.

With those likely pairings the ACC semis and finals go through the roof in value.

What it does for the SEC is equally good.

Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia

Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana State, Mississippi, Mississippi State

Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, T.C.U.

Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt

Now our set up rebuilds the Tennessee brand for football and the likely winner of that division could well be Tennessee or North Carolina, followed by Alabama/L.S.U., followed by Texas A&M/T.C.U./Oklahoma State, followed by Auburn/Florida/Georgia.

That too tremendously enhances the values of our Semis.

Now that could work well for both conferences and the ACC in particular because now you are rid of the old cadre that has held football back.

04-bow That would be some nice balanced conferences.

BTW, Mark, VT might need to start worrying about its own status . There seems to be some new evidence to suggest that it wasn't NC State (which we expect and can accept) but Virginia Tech that was the ringleader in keeping our situation stirred up with the NCAA.

Why would VT worry about its status?

As if the SEC wouldn't embrace them with open arms...

News to me. I'm not aware of any reason VT would even care about that...

So VT was tired of you cheating in basketball? Can’t blame them. Also, I wonder who spilled the beans on Kansas?

Not exactly. It's what division of the Big 12 would be possible if UNC, UVa, and Duke weren't afraid of losing control of their conference. The solution depicted here is to move those three so that growth can happen in the ACC without rancor.

Three basketball schools and a broke fixer upper? Yeah that'll fly.
UNC and UVA are the prime adds the SEC needs over anyone else and filling in the last major hole in the SEC footprint.

And if we needed to, we could and should bring Duke and VT as well and hey, grab FSU and Clemson just to secure the brands we need

SEC West

Texas A&M, Louisiana State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Missouri

SEC Central

Miss State, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky

SEC South

Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia

SEC North

North Carolina, Duke, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech

9 game Everyone plays the 4 other teams in their division, 2 protected annual games to maintain old rivalries like Tennessee-Florida and other newer ones like North Carolina-South Carolina then 3 rotating games in each of other 3 divisions
As much as I would love a lot of these scenarios being played out, I don't see the Carolina\UVA mafia playing along to this. I feel there is a higher probability of UVA, Duke, & UNC staying behind in a demoted ACC (for football but Power level for all other sports) with the ACC "non-desirables" while the B1G and SEC pick up the valuables. Granted I don't believe any of this will happen for a few reasons:

1.) ESPN will want to keep their property alive
2.) The SEC needs the ACC as a buffer from the B1G
3.) State politics causing schools to stay put\together
4.) Amount of money necessary for these moves will probably be massive\ not worth it because of GoR in place
5.) Conferences will essentially become leagues, how will they make it work realistically (they won't add extra games to the schedule)
6.) Chookity Bock!

Well, they will give us our own "pod", pay us and leave us alone, plus it's a whole lot better than joining the SEC SEC SEC.
