Quote:The upcoming summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae In could result in a historic announcement, with the sides declaring an end to the 68-year long war on the peninsula, according to a report.

Newspaper Munhwa Ilbo cited an unnamed South Korean intelligence source as saying the coming Kim-Moon summit on April 27, the first time the leaders will meet face-to-face, may result in a peace announcement.

The news follows weeks of planning between the South and North that kicked off with a thawing of previously tense relations during the Winter Olympics.

Since then, Kim has expressed an unprecedented willingness to talk to the South, a desire to talk about denuclearization with the US, and traveled outside his country for the first time since assuming power in 2011 to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Could be great news.

Could be a nothing burger.

Could be a trap.
If that happens there will be a liberal hissy fit that will make election night 2016 look like a mere child's temper tantrum....

would be the coup of all coups for any reigning president relative to 'forced' diplomacy if it pans out....

and yeah, it could the the bear trap of modern times....

and it just so happens it's DJT's time...

however, I'm not holding my breath on this one....

I'm going with door 2....
I think what this (other actions) show is how bad off North Korea really is. Fat boy tried to use fear and threats to get the world to notice and to make concessions. That did not work with President Trump, like it had with others. Money wise and research wise North Korea has reached a point where they can't move forward....

broke the bank getting to this point

The people are starving and those at the top end are probably starting to feel it. So they know that the fear didn't work, this time, they must move on to actually trying to be a part of the world (most likely faking it) to did get the things (and money) the country needs, like China did years ago. Or starve and rattle their nonfinshed nukes and try to get those things.

The trip to China might have opened Fat Boys eyes....not too many years removed from when China was also broke and starving. Maybe Fat Boy thinks he wants a part of that and saw threats can't get him there. Or maybe he's just following other 3rd world countries that seem to turn their country around once they developed Nukes. China and India being two of them.

Fat Boy might just be a little too crazy for the world to work with
Chinese told him to settle his butt down until Trump is out.

which is why door 1.....and one can only hope this plays out vs. door 3....

we'll see....

Our hope is that Fat Boy is really materialistic. Then he will want to follow China's model and ratchet down tensions in Korea.

which would easily be his smartest move overall....
South Korea needs to look at the history of South Vietnam...

War over, peace declared, US pulls out, North invades...

If I were ROK I would *NOT* want the US to leave even if the war is over, at least for a good number of years.
thanks Trump!

Liberals thought Reagan would start WW3 as soon as possible but we won the cold war without a shot being fired.

And liberals have not learned from history.
This is awesome! So when does Kim move into the Blue House?
My take is different.

I think big time Chinese capitalists want to exploit the labor there, but to do it, they have to be able to sell to S. Korea and the west.

I would think the labor pool would be very low on any type of skill labor for the messes in NK. China probably has 10s of millions of low skill laborers waiting for jobs.

What ever the reason I hope it works out but I wouldn't think China would want NK taking over the low skill low pay jobs.

But the one sure way to make a country think about what they are doing.....bring bigtime money into that country that has ties to the rest of the world. With the threat of it going away if they act up

I would think slave labor in NK is cheaper than in China. I could be wrong.
I'm very cautiously optimistic here. This could be nothing more than a ruse to get American troops to leave the border.
