Usf featured but UCF honorable mention.

4. USF: The Bulls reached double-digit wins for the second straight season last year, and it was also the second time in program history (all 18 years of it) they reached that level. I'm a bit skeptical about a three-peat, though.
USF isn't in a Power Five conference, but it is in what most consider to be the best Group of Five conference, meaning there's a lot of competition. This is a USF team that will have to replace a lot of its production from 2017, including Quinton Flowers, whom I'd guess most would consider to be the greatest player in program history. That's not easy to do. Throw in a couple of nonconference games with Georgia Tech and Illinois, and it's not crazy to think this team could go 2-2 outside the AAC. That means it would need to go 8-0 in conference play to reach 10 wins, and I'm not sure that's feasible with road trips to Tulsa, Houston, Cincinnati, Temple, as well as the regular season finale against UCF.

Is an Illinois team that went 2-10 last year really that much of a threat?
Typical P5 bias. GT was 5-6 and couldn't win on the road (0-4) and Illinois was 2-10, but they are P5 and USF isn't so let's just chalk those up as losses.
I know this past season was your first 10 win season since 2014-15. But you all are on an upward trend and I think you can hit 15 wins with your men's basketball team next season.

if charlie strong loses to Illinois and GT that seat would be getting hot in tampa. Already underachieved last year with the best team he likely will ever have. USF offense looked the best when it seemed like QF was ignoring the play call and doing whatever he wanted.
Flowers was a special player and irreplaceable. I do think it gives Strong more of a clean slate for his offense this year though.

No shame in losing to GaTech and it's tough triple option. Losing to Illinois is another matter entirely. That's an auto-hot seat loss.
ECU basketball?

I meant losing to them both. Winning 1 of 2 would probably be fine. Sucks for USF though, 90% of their offense is headed to the NFL and while Charlie had flowers he handcuffed him the whole time. Imagine if flowers played in an offense that encouraged his ability.
Houston gonna show them Florida boys what football is all about when USF visits
CCS has said there will be GT specific preparation in practice during fall camp. Luckily, facing an FCS school in week one allows you to do that. GT is plenty beatable.

Yup, its common practice when you play an option team, especially early, to dedicate segments of practice to it throughout spring and summer practice. I think USF beats GT pretty easily, tbh.

There wasn't much difference between Flowers stats in 2016 and 2017.

His production was 'down' due to losing explosive Marlon Mack to the NFL. It allowed teams to focus a little bit more on containing Flowers.

USF will have a good team next year. The two young QBs competing for the job are better suit d for Gilbert's offense and it will be year two in the same offense. Defensively this team will even better than last year. Onl question mark right now is OL due to graduation and rash of the injury bug this Spring accompanied by a couple reserve players levan get them program b/c for concussions or immaturity.

I agree somewhat...no guarantee of 10 wins again, but I wouldn't be surprised if we win the East.

Just looked at his stats and his completion percentage went down from 62% to 52% and his rushing yards went down from 1,530 to 1,038 and rushing TDs dropped from 18 to 11.

The game against UCF accounted for a lot of those stats for QF and its been noted that he ignored many of the coaches play calls that game and did his own thing. Imagine what he could have done this year if he was allowed to play that style all year? 50 total TDs isn't out of the question. Instead QF had 36, still very good but pretty underwhelming given what he has the talent to do.

USF offense is going to take a major step back this year, so hopefully for USF fans their defense continues to take strides forward.
