Allegedly got paid, per the latest version of the federal prosecution of the adidas reps:

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...ball-probe

Quote:The new indictment alleges Gatto and another unidentified Adidas consultant conspired to provide at least $90,000 to the mother of a former Kansas player between October 2016 and November 2017, and at least $20,000 to the legal guardian of a second player who committed to the Jayhawks in August 2017.
Quote:The indictment also alleges that Gatto and others conspired in 2015 to funnel approximately $40,000 from Adidas to the father of a player who was "widely considered the top high school recruit in the state of North Carolina and who had played for an [Adidas-sponsored] AAU team" to ensure that he signed with the Wolfpack and signed an apparel deal with Adidas once he turned pro.

Lots of interesting details in there. Shouldn't be too hard to name the players.
The NC State player in question is Dennis Smith, Jr. No info on who the alleged coach might be yet.
Silvio De Sousa is the Kansas player as Norlander and Parrish of CBS Sports deduce as:
1-He has a legal guardian in the US as he's Angolan.
2-Nearly everybody believed he was going to Maryland and swerved to Kansas. Under Armour would be the "other shoe company" per the indictment. De Sousa was on a Under Armour club team circuit last summer.
OK, that would mean DeSousa is the second Kansas player mentioned above. That leaves the other KU player mentioned in the indictment, whose mother got "at least $90,000" from adidas and friends.

Rumor is that person never played a second for KU, so "recruit" is a better term.

And (fortunately) so far, no sign that KU was involved in either case. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that corporate recruiters are allegedly throwing cash around to secure favor, for when top people eventually turn pro and can promote their products.
