Not going to link it but found some interesting comments about toughness and then about some spots we are a little short on.

In the article Lester mentions that we only have 5 CB's and that they may be looking for another, but by my count they have 6 (2 Jacksons, Beal, Lovely, Lupro, and Isma). Anyone hear anything different? Unless Lovely is a safety?

Didn't hear a thing about the defensive line in the article, which unfortunately might speak volumes about where we are at there.

Lester talking about not being tough enough mentally at times...that comes from the top coach. Going to have to look in the mirror on that one, your laid back approach isn't helping that one.

Encouraging to hear about the WR group making some strides.

Eleby sounds like he is going to be a player for us in the future if he sticks around.

And I think our O line depth is going to be really good.

Comprehensive article.

Playing college football and your not tough?

Should you have ever played to begin with?

“Yeah, the team is a reflection of the coach. Granted, I don’t know the guy, I’ve never seen how he responds to players in meetings or practices, but because he doesn’t act like a goof-ass on the sidelines I’ve concluded he’s soft and the players have followed his lead.”

WMU puts out videos all the time that Lester is a part of. He is as boring with his speeches as Bonamego. Players were "chillin" on the sideline under his watch. Are you going to hold Lester accountable for anything while he is here?

You don’t have the slightest idea what the players are doing on the sidelines, in meeting, during practice, or during games. I’ve watched and posted every video and he’s no different than any other coach in college football, with the exception of the ADD narssacist in MN.

I live in realville, you’re still under Peej’s spell. If this team stays healthy and goes 6-6 there’s a problem. Your man crush did well with a combination of his talent and the past regimes talent. He couldn’t retain or develop a QB and that left us in a lurch.

Again, everyone except your followers, knows that you're the only one still talking about PJ. Stick to Lester. I'm not the one that is quoted in that MLive article as saying they need to get mentally tougher, nor is it PJ. It's Lester.

Where do you think the teams mentality comes from? If it's not the head coach, then who is it?

Let's talk about Lester. I've given him credit for his recruiting class. It was great. I will give him credit when he wins football games.

What makes Lester so great? Did you see a bunch of decisions last year that gives you great confidence? Did they play disciplined football? What record do you expect?

I've seen a lot of football coaches too, and almost all have a different demeanor. That doesn't bother me. Lack of accountability, sloppy play, bad decisions, do bother me.

Right Dr. Freud, you take Lester’s “honest quote,” and use armchair psychology to tell us that quote is a manifestation of his personality. Have you ever seen “fireballs” Urban Meyer or Nick Saban? Not exactly narssasistic nuts like your hero.

Tough reading about Goddard. You want to talk about mental toughness, it’s hard when your leader on the field has eyes as big as dinnerplates. Confidence is everything on that football field. Let’s hope Wassink stays upright and we don’t have to put Eleby to the test yet!

Yep. Still can't make a post without bringing up my "hero" or other coaches. What did you see that makes you think Tim Lester is going to be successful? Stay on task, we're talking about Tim Lester only. I don't want to talk about you know who.

Again, if the head coach isn't responsible for the focus and demeanor of his football team? Who is?

Yeah Dr. Freud, it’s got to be just that ONE THING. Couldndt be that spring ball isn’t a big deal, that half the team is sidelined, it couldn’t be that YOURE reading too much into his comment. Maybe they’re just low key kids. Maybe their parents raised them to be humble. Maybe following a huge dick like Fleck requires an adjustment period.

I’m guessing it’s just you projecting your Peej Mancrush.
The "chillin' and relaxing" quote from the CMU game was troubling. My hunch is we had some upperclassmen who had been to the top of the mountain, figured they'd 'been there done that', lost their HC, and couldn't (or wouldn't) find it within themselves to give 110%. Lester could've hollered until his face turned blue, but it's more difficult that it sounds to bring back checked-out players who might've still been living in the past.

I'm encouraged that, instead of shrugging his shoulders, Lester identified this as a significant thing to work on. And with "his players" now comprising a larger share of the team, I'm not too concerned about this.

What I am concerned about is the oft-mentioned player injuries, which still seem to be a ton, in these articles. I hope we still aren't hobbling around come late August.

It is an informative article, that we can agree on.
Our offense will carry the team until we can rebuild the Defense-particularly the DL. We'll need to score a lot of points to win games, so the WRers who had their Mulligan season need to take it up a notch this year. And our OL needs to be at least as effective at pass blocking as they were last season and hopefully better.

In looking around the league there are only a handful of teams with returning experienced DTs. We return some experience and size in Ralph Holley. Findlay, Lance, and Aguirre were all highly rated out of HS, and are all big bodies with time in the program. French there to eat space, but I’m not a fan of converted OL at DT, not explosive enough.

DE returns enough experience and talent in Belbani, Assoua, and Fyad. One of the freshmen will step up. Carter and McCabe have good to go size. Ronnie Buford could be a special talent but needs to add weight to see the field.

I think this years LBer will be an upgrade. Bailey and Spillane had checked out, Brown will be missed.

I have no idea what happened to Spillane last season... he really didn't look like he had any fire left after the last PJ season... I'm just a casual observer so I could be way off there...
