If we play the way we did in February and March all year it may happen this year

Agree but a very good coach and team comes out ready to go to work at the start of the season. Murphy typically has a very slow start to the conference season. He has to do better preparing the team!!!?

I need to get the stats, but I don't think that is the history of the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington CAPS (ALL CAPS).

I think most folks believe in MBB, the most critical part of the season is from Feb 1 till the season ends.

That is true of any sport which has a tourney or playoff. In horse racing it is jockeying for the stretch run...

Champions come our ready to play. Each of our MBB MAC Conference Championships also resulted in MAC tournament Championships. In fact this is not absolute but pretty much typical. Buffalo accomplished the same thing this season. There will be outliers but if you win consistently during conference season, your chances of winning the tournament are statistically better than vice versa.

This saga has lasted longer than many Vegas weddings.

UDM managed to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. Well, maybe not, but I can't imagine them being worse off than the past two seasons.
Mike Davis was thrust into an impossible situation at Indiana. He was NOT a Big Ten head coach yet he had a magical run in that one NCAA tournament. His record at the mid-majors indicate the Peter principal has revealed that he has reached his appropriate career level. I'm rooting for the guy to do well at U-D Mercy. I am certain that he will not imitate the success of Dick Vitale but 18-20 wins a year is realistic.

His salary reflects the disadvantage that mid-majors like the MAC playing football have when competing in basketball against those who do not have football programs. While the screamers moan heavily about Creighton's salary, a private institution is paying their basketball coach a similar amount.

Yep. Rumored salary for Davis is 400K.

And it also shows how much Murphy is under paid.

Murphy is NOT underpaid!!!! Murphy has not accomplished anything at EMU. If Murphy had gone to the NC2A tournament as many times as Davis, he'd make $400k too.

It is always tough to follow a legend.

This case is 180 degrees opposite, stepping into a dumpster fire.

If he gets to 18 - 20 wins within say 3 season I'd suggest: HL COY.

He'll earn his money trying to clean up this mess.

If Murphy had gone to the NC2As we'd be making 650K somewhere else.

Murphy came what 10 seconds + one game of hitting the jackpot in March.
Actually the big story will be what happens with Jermaine Jackson Sr. (asst coach) and son (player).

Needless to say, the UDM mess must be very, very disruptive to the Jackson family.

Timing, Timing, Timing. Last year we had two openings on the staff...

I'd bet that Murphy would have loved to have someone with real Detroit roots and a son who is a high potential PG.
Well IMHO, Murphy better win big this year or local recruits will look at MSU, UofM, UofD before EMU, Toledo, and Oakland

We have 4 scholies with our 3 top players graduating we have no current scholies for transfers to sit out this year my guess we will see the 2019 class have 50 percent junior college and the other 50 prep high school
The big story with Davis and UDM is the new coach's super star son. This reminds me of Ray McCallum and his son.

I think local recruits already do that. Luckily, Murphy can find talent out of state, as our three best players coming back are from three different parts of the country.

It’s great to get local kids like Kevin McAdoo, but none of us should really care where the talent comes from. All of their uniforms have the Block E on them, no matter what state they call home.
