28-8 (9-0)
Swept 3 from GW over the weekend and are on 7 game win streak.
Currently 1st in the BSC over Longwood (6-2).
Next Up: vs. NC State and 3 @ Longwood

Gotta admit, I’m underwhelmed by the baseball season so far. I was hoping for a Top 25 or Also Receiving Votes performance this year. I wanted 35-40 wins.
BASEBALL:
19-12 (7-5)
Last week beat Wake Forest and took 2/3 from first place Campbell. Just beat Richmond tonight on the road.
Currently 4th in the BSC trailing High Point, Campbell (both 9-3), and Winthrop (8-4).
Next Up: 3 vs. Chuck So.

SOFTBALL:
30-10 (10-2)
Last week beat N.C. State and lost 2/3 to Longwood.
Currently 1st in the BSC over Longwood (9-3).
Next Up: @ VT and 3 @ Radford.

Baseball seems to be playing a little better, but still a long way to go before we are a really good team. Softball slipped up last weekend on the road at Longwood, but still having a great season.
BASEBALL:
22-12 (10-5)
Swept Chuck So. over the weekend.
Currently 3rd in the BSC trailing Campbell (12-3) and High Point (11-4).
Next Up: @ Virginia and 3 @ High Point.

SOFTBALL:
32-12 (12-3)
Last week lost to VT in extra innings and took 2/3 against Radford.
Currently tied for 1st in BSC with Longwood.
Next Up: vs. VT and 3 vs. Chuck So.

Baseball team is looking pretty good right now but have a tough stretch of road games.
The softball team is in a slump and has lost 4/6.
BASEBALL:
24-14 (12-6)
Took 2/3 from High Point over the weekend. Got blown out by UVa last week.
Currently 2nd in the BSC trailing Campbell (15-3) and tied with High Point and Radford(12-6).
Next Up: @ Wake Forest (18-23) and 3 vs. Longwood (13-25).

SOFTBALL:
36-12 (15-3)
Last week beat VT and swept Chuck South.
Currently 1st in BSC one game ahead of Longwood (14-4).
Next Up: vs. UNC (27-23) and 2 at Hampton (19-20).

With only 12 games left after the four games coming this week, it’s critical for LU baseball to take control and play their best ball in the coming weeks. The schedule gets harder. The Flames really need to go (4-0) with very winnable games this week. Because coming up is 2 against #9 Duke, 3 against St. John’s (26-10), 3 vs. Radford, and then VT and Winthrop.

With only 5 games left after this week, the softball team has a shot to really finish strong and make a statement for the NCAA tournament. We finish the season with 2 against UVa (12-34) and 3 with Winthrop (17-27).
I have watched several games on the Big South Conference app of LU baseball this season. Comparing LU's production quality to other conference members is, well no comparison. A peeve of mine is when watching BB game action occurs when the camera follows the player running the bases without showing any action/direction/location of the ball. We baseball fans want to see the flight of the ball, the clean or muffled catch, the throw to the cut-off man, and the action of the ball finding the player. A player standing on a base clapping his hand in delight without any activity to follow the ball is weak. I enjoy watching the LU production. Professional and very good quality. Sure the LU guys will miss an occasional first base pick off attempt, but seldom do they miss the second. And LU provides replays. Seems like the BSC should assist other conference members with improving the production quality. It is sorely lacking.
BASEBALL:
26-16 (14-7)
Took 2/3 from Longwood over the weekend, but looked unimpressive doing it. Lost 8-7 to Wake Forest during the week.
Currently 2nd in the BSC trailing Campbell (15-3).
Next Up: vs. VT and 3 @ St. Johns (28-11)

SOFTBALL:
39-12 (15-3)
Last week we swept UNC and Hampton.
Currently 1st in BSC one game ahead of Longwood (14-4).
Next Up: 2 vs. UVa and 3 vs. Winthrop (17-27).

Baseball- They broke even last week when they probably should have gone 4-0 against lesser competition. The schedule only gets tougher. But we do have a chance to beat another ACC foe and hopefully take the series from the best team in the Big East.

Softball- They had a great week, whipping UNC 10-0, and easily taking care of Hampton. I hope for more of the same this week. The softball team looks strong.
BASEBALL:
26-20 (14-7)
Had a dismal week. It couldn’t have gotten much worse. We were blown out by VT at home and were swept by St. John’s in a three game road set, finishing the week (0-4).
Currently 2nd in the BSC trailing Campbell (17-4).
Next Up: @ Duke 33-11 and 3 vs. Radford 20-26 (11-10)

Needless to say the baseball season is teetering on the brink of major disappointment. A win at nationally ranked Duke would be a huge upset. And I believe a sweep of Radford is a must. Following this week we have another game with duke and close the season with Winthrop. You never want to hit that 20 loss mark in a season, but we’re there. You always shoot for 40 wins, but can happily live with 35-36 wins before tournament time. We wouldn’t even reach that mark if we go 8-0 the rest of the season.

SOFTBALL:
44-12 (18-3)
Finished the season strong! Swept two games from Virginia during the week and then swept the series against Winthrop.
Big South Regular Season Champions!
Next Up: #1 seed in BSC Tournament

The softball twam has done great things so far this season. I hope it translatea into the post season.
SOFTBALL: Congrats to the Flames on winning both the regular season championship and the conference tournament! Well done ladies!

BASEBALL: The season has unravelled and is turning into a disaster. The team has now lost 7 straight and 8 of their last 9 games. No pitching, hitting, and defense leads to that. I don’t know what has happened. We were poised to make a run and the bottom fell out. Now I’m hoping we can even finish with a winning record. Very disappointing season. But the kids still look like they are playing hard and giving the effort.
BASEBALL:
27-23 (15-9)
Another really bad week of baseball. Lost to Duke and lost 2/3 to Radford. With the win today we halt the 7 game losing streak.
Currently 3rd in BSC behind Campbell and High Point and just ahead of Winthrop.
Next Up: vs. Duke and 3 at Winthrop 23-27 (14-10)

SOFTBALL:
47-12

So how exactly does softball work? Is Liberty the #2 seed in the Columbia regional?
I like our chances to win a game.

I like our chances to win a game.

I actually think Hofstra is number two in the region and we are 3.

Yes, that would be the case.
After taking down 24th-ranked Hofstra in the opening game of their Regional in Columbia, SC, the softball team just picked up easily the biggest victory in program history by beating 10th-ranked South Carolina in their own crib to advance to the regional final on Sunday at 4pm ET.
This is double elimination right?

Yes, it's double elimination. Liberty has two shots to win one game tomorrow.

29-24 (17-10)

Finished 3rd in BSC behind Campbell and High Point.

The A-Sun is about to be really strong in Softball. With the addition of Liberty and North Alabama, don't be surprised to see multiple bids in the future.
