I know I said i was going to take a little break from this board and cool off, but I had to vent a little more steam about something that was bothering me.

I hate to even go here, because let's face it, I think we deserved to lose the game the way the players and coaches totally panicked and fell apart. I also hate complaining about the refs, because everyone thinks they always got screwed, when really the game was called alot closer than they thought. With that said, was it just me and my bias view, or were the zebras especially one sided yesterday???

There were at least 2 or 3 highly questionable goaltending calls, and some extremely tricky tack foul calls that killed momentum and took Cumberland and Evan's out of the game. I felt like Nevada also got every 50/50 out of bounds play. The Broome foul at the end really stood out, especially when I thought Evan's got fouled.

Something just didn't seem right, and if they call this game even we still get the W despite the epic collapse. Some of the calls may have even contributed to the comeback, by keeping them in the game.

Games over, and can't do anything about it anymore. Or maybe we s him would find out if they own a business and harass the hell out of them, lol

Any thoughts on this???
Nevada needed everything to go right and us to utterly collapse to win. Everything to go right included getting every call the last 12 minutes. They got called for nothing im that span.

That said. Up 22 that shouldn't have cost us the game.
100% agree with both. One foul called on them in the last 13 minutes if I remember correctly also and they had players who would have been in major foul trouble. Kept UC from getting a bigger lead and we started sucking in every aspect of basketball and it seemed to keep going their way.

With all that said UC still was in 100% control to win the game so I won’t blame the refs for our L, but it was definitely imperative to Nevada’s W.
When we got up 22, the refs stopped calling fouls on Nevada. They felt bad that Nevada was getting whooped. Nevada used that to their advantage to start a little run and then the refs got caught up in the emotion of the comeback.
refs were complete garbage. astounding in 2018 they aren't held to a higher standard during the biggest stage of the year.

a foul is a foul. your personal feelings, emotions from the crowd and team you bet $$$ on beforehand shouldn't matter. do your job.

there was also a late obvious travel not called that lead to a bucket for them which i'll never forget. whistles swallowed. unbelievable.
All needed to hear from Dan Hoard was Jamie Luckie. Knew we were screwed!
Both professional sports and college sports refs have become a joke.

Yes Ty, I remember that well in between yelling F-bombs. I believe that led to an "and 1"

The fouls also kept stopping the clock and allowing their short bench to rest. I DVRed the game and considered going back to watch, but there is no way I'm putting myself through that lol.

I swear there was something going on with how 1 sided this was, and I never call.out the refs. Ref blaming is just not my thing, but I think it really ended up having an effect on our defense as well.

Yea, they've really.tried to overengineer the rule book, it is ridiculous. There is way too much grey area type.calls that are.left up to the refs discretion, for all as well. Either enforce a foul as literally touching the other player, or loosen up what is considered a foul. They have way too much control over the outcome of the game.
They also called two technicals on Nevada. This wasn't the refs.

I literally was pissed and said to to the TV “That’s an fing foul call it” when we hacked one of Nevada’s shooters clear as could be and no call. 5 seconds later bs make up call on Cumberland down low to pick up his 3rd.

Not saying they were one way or the other they just sucked and it helped Nevada come back no doubt about it. And again no doubt about UC being the only ones to blame for the L.

This. These guys are supposed to be professionals that know the job. The only other professions that get away with less expertise and oversight is weatherman & politician.

I don't count F&F as 'journalists'.

You can't resist can you?

Nobody is whining. I was responding to Jarr's specific post and making observations from watching the game. If you watched the game, officiating definitely played a roll in the comeback. Up 22 it shouldn't have mattered. I don't blame the refs for the loss, nor does anyone else, but to say the refs swallowing their whistle on Nevada's end (and making the horrendous illegal screen call late) wasn't part of what happened isn't accurate.
I heard about 5 minutes of Sportstalk Monday evening. Long enough for Lance to share a story but I don't know his source. Guy walked into a Las Vegas casino with 11 minutes left in the UC game and bet $100 on Nevada to win. Earned a $2,200 payout.

Strange, if true. On the whole, I think this NCAA Tourney has been "over-officiated" for the most part and when that's the case there will be numerous questionable calls.

Ref whining is your gig. And UC is always the victim. Own it.

It’s not the first time I’ve mentioned this. But it’s the first time I’ve singled you out for it. I’m not sure what’s worse, the ref whining or the censure of people because UC has awesome kenpom numbers.

Maybe the discussion should be more productive, like how does UC end the early outs and how do we stop the Pollyannas from keeping the discussion realistic?

Not going to get into a back and forth with you so this is my last post on the matter. Jarr asked and I responded (I wasn't the only one who seemed to see things that way either). You can respond too without taking little swipes at me, but that seems to be all your about around here.

There is no censure regarding what people say... I'm free to discuss the team just as everyone else is. I've had disagreements with many on the board regarding UC's level of play and achievements over the season, but almost every one of those posters seems fully capable of responding without taking a swipe except for you.

Nobody is keeping the discussion from anything. There was enthusiasm all year, there was skepticism all year, most were somewhere in between. There was back and forth regarding that. Nobody took down posts regarding UC's inability to make a deep run and likewise nobody took down posts about how fun this season had been... everyone was free to see things their way. But keep playing the victim and making me the target for whatever joy you get out of being a prick on here.

Pot meet kettle.

Calling you a ref whiner isn’t a jab. It’s an observation of a consistent behavior.
