Ha, Chaminade. It certainly doesn't pay at UVA to be #1.
Interesting thing is the best team in the America East, Vermont got crushed in the NIT by Middle Tennessee

OH the mystery of college basketball, I had high hopes for Albany earlier in the year, especially when they absolutely annihilated UMBC on Jan. 21 by 44 points 83-39! Yes THAT UMBC team. But wait, what happened to Albany who lost to THAT UMBC team in Feb. and faded into an early America East Conference tournament exit. I guess on a good day Albany could ergo defeat UVA by 64. But that analysis never works as each game is its own entity.

On a serious note...

1. UVa hadn't played in many games all season where they faced a big 2nd half deficit.

2. Looked to me even with 10 minutes left and down about a dozen that UVa panicked on the offensive end. Starting throwing up wild shots, for instance.

3. How many times did UMBC (and that one dude) drive uncontested all the way to the glass in the 2nd half?

4. Rumors and opinions will soar even more than already existed about Tony Bennett's system and whether it can win in the postseason - when they see different sets of referees, who often won't allow them to grab and hold with their arms like the ACC-BE-CAA-A10 refs do during the regular season.

Having said all that, I'd love to have their "problems".
They’d be stupid to let Tony Bennett go. Uva fans don’t realize how good they have it.

Nobody is suggesting Bennett is going anywhere - especially UVa fans.

The Chaminade loss is still the greatest upset of all time. Chaminade is Division II and UVA had Ralph Sampson.

Chaminade wasn't even D2 at that time - they were NAIA.

I think there are some rumblings about Bennett and the Milwaukee Bucks. Also rumblings that Larannaga may retire.
I like UVA and they had a great season. Unfortunate they lost, but they deserved it for the very poor play they had against UMBC. Very poor. UMBC rocked them and for that game looked very impressive, everything they shot went in. A great shooting performance by them.

I grew up a UVA fan so I typically follow their basketball program. My dad is a huge UVA fan as well. I know many hate UVA on this board and thats cool, however, the athletes on this team seem to be level headed and a great group of student athletes. It's a shame this had to happen as 99 times out of 100 they would easily win this game. I feel for the team, the fans on The Sabre, not so much. However, this is why college basketball post-season is the best as everyone who is deserving to go to the tournament has the opportunity to win it all. It's why men's basketball is an important asset for a school and an administration shouldn't cut corners to save a few thousands bucks, just ask Butler, VCU and GMU.
UVA basketball in the NCAA tournament: 'One choking moment'..and another, and another, and another..

The Sabre is my reference point for horrible school message boards. No one ever expands on a statement, point or thought beyond 6 words.

Yep, that board is worse than no board at all. Horrible!
