$36.5 million per school and it doesn’t include Tier 3 rights. If the LHN is considered T3, then Texas is getting over $50 million. If that’s the case, why would Texas leave the Big XII where they rule and make money to another P5 where they’re just one of the pack and make the same amount of money? It would seem as a lateral move.

If this money keeps coming in, along with the fact that UT and Oklahoma wants to keep their control over the conference, why would the Big12-2 break up.
It will all depend on the next contract. I am sure the networks will be expecting an extension of the GOR and have not seen this.

The extension of the GOR will come with the new TV contract.
This is one of the reasons I wont be surprised at all if both Texas and Oklahoma go absolutely nowhere at the end of the current GOR. Splitting the pie 10 ways is a very effective way of offsetting their slightly smaller population footprint. BUT---dont be surprised if the next CFP agreement disperses earnings based on the number of schools in a conference. I think the other P5's are going to catch onto this ploy. Since these other P5's arent going to kick anyone out---they will take a look at how CFP distributions are done to make the math more equitable for larger conferences.

2. If other conferences don't want to share, just lock in the number of Big XII teams the CFP would pay for.

I don't see any reason to think that would happen. It never has before, e.g. during the BCS era there were differences in conference size and pay was to the conference not based on number of schools, and ditto six years ago when the CFP was negotiated.
This isn't some deep hidden situation that has just come to light or something.

No. E.g. Imagine if the new deal specifies a payout of $5m per P5 school. There would be no incentive for the B12 to add two teams because that would not improve the payout to the 10 existing schools.
Might even reduce it slightly because the entire pot will now likely be divided 67 ways not 65 ways.
