would be nice to have one. any word? as innovative as USM is, perhaps we will have our HC be the DC as well.

The Boone hire doesn't look so good. Hes not our DC but as DC last year, his team was 8th....in his conference....in defense.

This is a good thing right? We have some bench strength from a coaching and we get to promote from within.
We had a lot of highs on the Defensive side of the ball last year. I can't say the same for the offensive side of the ball.
Kudos to Coach Billings on the promotion to Defense Coordinator and Coach Nicholson on becoming the Co-Defensive Coordinator!

yeah, i think the defense will be fine. its not like Pecarardo (or whatever his name is), was some genius. Hopson knows the defense and was prob more behind it than Pec. Regardless, Hop and Billings knows the defense, so its not like a brand new defense has to be learned by the players or coaches. Glad to see Hop has enough sense to keep things as close to the "same" as possible. If the dumbasses who hired EJ weren't so stupid, they would have done the same thing by hiring BA instead. ******* idiots they were!
Secondary is going to go through some growing pains.

Former player who is from the area as well as his wife is from Waynesboro so it’s a coming home for them and a pay raise from his previous job. Probably one of the few who would take the job for the pay we offered.

It's not even funny how much we get out of this team for the amount of money we pay them.
I have no doubts we are in an good overall position for Defense next year. On Offense, I'm not so sure. Last year, I felt we were too predictable on Offense. I wish we could bring back the hurry-up offense that Fedora and Monken installed in their era and get a bit more creative on 3rd down plays. Food for thought for Dawson.
If Dawson had left, we would have had a tough time looking for top notch OC for the money we are paying. Since Dawson is off of Kentucky's books next year, I think he may be headed to a brighter pasture.
Dawson can be a roller coaster. There are games where everything clicks and you think the guy is a heck of a coach. Then there are games full of bland play calling and 3 and outs.

I think he’s a guy that knows a lot of football. He comes from a coaching tree that at one time was considered the most creative and dynamic out there. Remember at one time, the air raid offense was totally different and no one could stop it. Now defenses are more complex and can contain the generic air raid unless the offense has great players.

Dawson’s problem is that he doesn’t seem to be a big game-planner. He lacks creativity from week to week and takes a “do what we do” approach. Usually that consists of generic spread offense running plays, along with a bunch of drop back passes. There are very few wrinkles and not much play action in his offense.

Todd Monken and Dawson run the same offense for the most part. But Dawson seems to lack those 2-3 play action shots or wrinkles that Monken brought to the table more often.

play action??! we would prob avg 7-10 more points a game if that guy would just EVER run some play action. ive never ever seen him do that. its not complicated. just do it. i think he is a ******* idiot sometimes. that being said; no telling what we will get when he leaves.
