Buying out Nevada and declining a HvH with Rhode Island when you’ve had this exact movie play out before and in the process destroying Jock Landale’s career.
You can't count on either of those teams to be at-large caliber. They just got squeezed out.
They played Dayton, NMSU, and Cal OOC, along with the Wooden tourney. If they beat Wazzu or Georgia and beat BYU, they're in for sure. Not like they didn't try to schedule.
San Francisco is the team they should have beaten.
Whatever. The P5 teams can have multiple slip ups, why cant SMC have 1?

Those teams would have improved their SOS and RPI, and they still would have a good overall record. If you want to play an easy schedule, there are teams that you can schedule that won’t drag you down.
He scheduled Dayton and Cal. How was he supposed to know they would be extra awful this year? Who knows when these games were scheduled.

Well they got out of 2 games with teams who made the tournament. With all the talk of mid majors not being able to schedule anymore....St Marys blew it.
This makes Gonzaga's move a lot easier to justify. And I'm sure it has BYU folks thinking, especially if the Cougars miss the NIT.

I agree they should be in the field. With that said, they didn't just have 1 but 3 and arguably 4. Being in the WCC, your margin for error is razor thin.

Combined with bid stealers, they just got squeezed out.
And what about Oklahoma State? 0 bad losses, a few really good wins but left out because of a poor RPI. It works both ways.
I don't think there's anyone that is upset OSU is left out. Except for their fans.
I'm not upset but they had a good case. They had a better case than SMC imo.

I'm still scratching my head over their RPI.
2nd time in 3 years Saint Mary’s missed the tournament with 5 losses. Maybe Gonzaga leaving will be good for the Gaels.
They still wouldn't have.made the Tournament without the Zags there.
They need Gonzaga for the computer numbers.
I'm saying they lost in the WCC semis to a non-Gonzaga team and didn't go more or less undefeated otherwise.
I hear ya. Just for the people saying SMC will be better off without Gonzaga
They just reported on CBSSN Creighton was another of the HvH’s SMC turned down, in addition to RI and Nevada.

OK State was IMO the hardest to judge. Two wins over Kansas, are you kidding me? But that RPI.

How did they play in the toughest conference and end up with 90 RPI?

And to rub salt in, Oklahoma is dancing.
