“Contributions and ticket sells.” That says it all!!

Why nervous? This piece is to shape public opinion so the admin looks better when they pull the trigger. Not everyone is aware of these issues that GC hilighted. This is another nail in the coffin.
Tubby isn't even lobbying for a NIT bid. Not his job.
It gets the point that really matters.
Only two questions remain:

1) Which day this coming week is TS canned?

2) Which day is PH announced as the new head coach?

I suppose and hope you're right.

More BB would cut into his golf.
I have no clue to accuracy of below, passed to me from someone else:

Tubbs let go due financial hardship due to bball rev.Admins will "beg" Penny to save the basketball program.Penny will only agree if the University pays him $0.01 salary, since he's only doing it out of love of school (TV/shoe/outside will take care of the rest).New contracts are negotiated down the line.Incentives.S16.E8.F4.NC
Say what you will about Calipari, but he was probably the best salesman for the university, working to get every ticket dollar and butt in seat that he could.

I remember they used to give a free flat screen TV away to a lucky winner in the upper deck. Even with a packed lower bowl, Cal loved drumming up interest to sell all of the upper deck tickets he could.

Tubby is a far cry from this. He sees it as the job of the university's marketing department.
TS and his attorney both know he'll never coach another practice or game for Memphis.

The only issue remaining is how he's gonna spend his $9 million remaining on the contract after security escorts him out of his office. It's all about the contractual obligations at this point.

Cal had bonus incentives based on tickets... and then went to UK and bad mouthed us about “having to sell tickets”.

Would be the perfect PR campaign...
If Penny will forgoe a 7-figure salary to free up money for high level assistants, I’ll buy in to the “doing it for the love of Memphis basketball” narrative.

More like his pursuit of the job at High Point so he can get work for GG and Saul.

Cal may have bemoaned having to sell the program to the city, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t incredibly effective at drumming up support.
Hell, regardless of all of the solid financial reasons for parting ways with TS, just the fact that he allowed his smooth-talking lawyer mouthpiece to publicly trash on local airwaves both our University leadership and major boosters is grounds for immediate dismissal.

Penny or no Penny, TS's advisory team permanently screwed the pooch for any future association with our University.
Calkins column is on point. If any of the national guys cared to read it, they’d stop saying that the Tubbs is being mistreated and deserves better.
