Rockets wins!!!
GREAT WIN!!!
Historical WIN
Sure wasn't looking good, but it's great to have a chance to win the tournament. Getting 2 wins in Cleveland is great. Even one is good.

Agree it will go down as one of the great wins in UT history!!!
We were favored. No big surprise that we won apart from winning without Fletcher.

2(Jackson)-Fletcher> Jackson-Thompson
The great news is guys stepped up. The other great news is the other guys that didn’t have their best game will be hungry tomorrow. Willie and Marreon would like to win this in front of their home town fans. Buffalo is a good team, but EMU looks like they have a stronger inside game than Buffalo. Knapke should have a better game. I would love to see him develop a hook shot, and be quicker to the basket. I love that he makes his free throws, and does a nice job on the boards. He starts low and goes up. I would like to see up and over. He has what it takes. Nice win against a tough EMU team.

Win it!!
Sanford, Navigato and Knapke need to step it up tomorrow. We can't expect Marrion to do that two nights in a row.

Let’s not put Knapke in that sentence. A career high in rebounds, I think, four or five blocks and a key intimidation near the end, 3 assists and drew a ton of defensive attention down low. We got more O boards than EMU, too, with Knapke leading both teams with 5. Thompson gets held to 8 points and five boards with a T and a flagrant, largely due to his frustration over his tussles with Knapke (OK, largely because getting Ts is what he does, but still...). I thought Knapke was huge in most respects tonight.

Thompson is most unlikable player in the league. Emu fans can’t figure out why he gets questionable calls against him. His body language and attitude work against him.

I'll give you that one, he does attract attention. A few more buckets in the basket would help. 1-11 at one point was ugly.

His shooting was terrible and he struggled to even get a shot off but his height in the middle against that zone was a major factor. Notice that Adway got just nine minutes. 1-11 is ugly, but we don’t win without thirty minutes from him tonight.

Agreed. Was just looking at the box score and saw the Adaway 9 min stat. With his height, you would think he could have helped us more. Jackson is a solid player, but is undersized in the post. Was suprised he got a quiet 18 points. Tino Valencia was shorter, but played bigger than Jackson does.

Sanford and Navigato need to play to their potential tomorrow. All season one would be on and the other would be off. They are in Cleveland, they need to channel their inner Major League and sacrifice a chicken with Jobu.

How much are tickets for the championship game? I'm seeing $34 on UT's site, but is there anywhere else to get cheaper tickets?
i'm sure you can find a deal on a ticket to half empty arena.

Great Win! Made me proud to be a Rockt fan. IMO, Fletcher won this game. The team was inspired to win in part because he has brought them together. No one blinked. He went down but he came back to the bench and was there. I had this Hank Gathers Loyola Marymount moment -fortunately, just an injury in this case- of your star going down and that hurt getting channeled into great team basketball. OK, we didn't play great, but we fought and we had someone, MJ, step up and make shots.

Knapke plays flat footed on offense when he is out of synch. Does it every third game or so. It was accentuated by Thompson's defense. You got to quickly get the ball on the glass or gather your body to dunk before you catch the pass. Luke played cautious. When Luke is in rythem he attacks and isn't hesitant. He doesn't have a quick first step and isn't an explosive leaper so it's important for him to play loose and aggressive. I think he will overcome it before his career is done. i liked how he helped the team on the boards and defense, and played smart getting into Thompson's head a bit and earning that double foul with some nastiness. Thompson is a tough player. He isn't trying to be nice to anyone or show off his finesse game. His weakness is the officials and his temper (and no real finesse move, little fadeaway, to use against solid post defense). Buffalo has a strong squad. Still, there's some of that team of destiny with this year's Rockets.

Well, without Fletcher’s points we lose.
I think what everyone is describing is what happens when you have a TEAM. Some guys under-perform and others play their best. It happens to championship teams and you come to expect it. We know Navigato could contribute 20 or more on any given night - as could Sanford. But when you have both Jacksons step up and score 44 of your 67 points ( I don't recall final score) - you realize you have a TEAM. Now they have to realize they let the game come to them and play to those strengths of having 5 guys on the floor at all times that can step up and do the job. If any of those guys think they need to replace Fletcher's points, rebounds, and assists by themselves, we are going to lose. Looking for what is available and counting on those guys to do the job when they have the opportunity - is how you win as a TEAM.

By the way - it took K three games to figure out how to beat that zone, but the TEAM did a great job against it. Far different from the first time they saw it this year up in Ypsi at the end of February. That is a good sign. Having seen Buffalo once already should help as well. We cannot turn the ball over against them - so keep it out of Sanford's hands unless he is going to shoot or drive to the bucket.
Let's all be honest. NOBODY (including me) expected our beloved Rockets to be in the Championship Game. I just hope Fletcher is going to be OK.

GO ROCKETS !!!

We didn’t exactly beat the zone. Jackson got hot from beyond the arc and Willie Jackson got some put back points. If u watched the game in person our offense was painful to watch at times. We ran few offensive sets but got lucky thanks to some big shots.
