It's idiotic takes like this that actually make it harder to combat actual racism.

The list of players: black, white, QB or not, asked to consider a position change at the NFL combine is pretty much unending.

And oh yeah...one team reportedly asked if he would consider changing his position to WR. ONE TEAM!

You really have to feel sorry for Lamar being lumped in with this idiots opinion.

Quote:There is undoubtedly a racial element to this as black quarterbacks have a long history of being perceived as lacking the intellect to run an offense and the grit to be leaders, an offensive and inaccurate stereotype that festered for decades, and still does. The easy comeback to teams asking Jackson to try out at receiver is: Why aren’t teams asking Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen, a 6-5, 233-pound quarterback with upside but holes in his game, to try out at tight end?

Because he's one of the best QB prospects in the whole draft you fool!

Quote:The wiry 6-3, 200-pounder claimed “no teams have asked me” to try out at wide receiver, as the original NFL Network report had suggested. But “no sir,” he wouldn’t do it if they did ask.
Lamar Jackson being asked to try out at WR is latest example of racism among NFL talent evaluators
What if the team wants him but not as a quarterback? Might as well ask him upfront than waste millions.
Not racist at all. There are many more WR jobs in the NFL than QB's. UC had a freak QB in the late 90's, Chad Plummer. FSU wanted him to play WR, he came to UC to play QB. Ended up being an UFA for the Colts and they moved to WR. He got cut. Should have played WR in college.
I love it when ignorant journalists venture into the realm of sports with their race goggles on. It demonstrates how uncritical, facile, and ridiculous they are in throwing accusations of racism.
Was it racist when Julian Edelman, Matt Jones and Scott Frost were asked to change positions?

The "racism" is just click bait. It's just another example of crying wolf.
Greg Ward Jr. beat him in 2016, was asked to switch to WR in the NFL, and now has a ring with the Eagles.

Ask him if he thinks it was racist.

I agree, actual issues do exist but claims like these dilute the credibility of claims with an actual basis.

The boy who cried wolf...

A very good example of this is the former starting QB at Penn State. A central Va product, forgotten where now, had a successful stint at PS, we drafted by the Raiders and of all things moved to fullback...

Robinson I think his name is. How many true fullbacks even exist in the NFL any more? He went on to a decade+ long career and put millions in the bank.

Did things the right way, not many try to tell the boss to frack off if asked to move to a new position or take on greater responsibilities, especially if it means a fat raise or paycheck.

He’s set, his kids are set, his kids kids are set.

Racizzz indeed...
Maybe they just remember his Heisman speech, he's no Cam Newton.

This. Been many players over the years of all races asked to changed positions. These owners/GMs/coaches are more concerned about making money and winning than the color of some guys skin.

here's the first guy to rush/pass for over 1k in ncaa history.....was drafted to play TE....he said screw you, I'm a QB....it didn't work out well for him moving forward....

sometimes sheeple just don't get it.....reggie couldn't hit the broad side the barn half the time....I know....I watched him....

however, once those legs gained ol' mo', he was special.....he was Vick before Vick....

You do realize this has nothing to do with Jackson, right? He just politely said he wants to play QB. Nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong in believing in yourself.

I agree; however, $$ is where the rubber hits the road. I'd imagine he'd rather switch positions and make millions than stick at quarterback and not even make the league, etc. Eventually, common sense has to come into play.

Heck a UB player was drafted by Seattle and asked to go from a defensive Tackle to a center on the OL...

Also common for DE to move to OLB. If Jackson play QB and tries to run like he did in college he won't make it through the first season uninjured.
