- today on radio its been stated that influential boosters aren't happy with the direction of program
- local paper got a statement from the school president saying "the staff will be evaluated after the season"
- rumors that Penny is already working on a staff and gauging recruits behind the scenes

He has some aau experience and like 5 years coaching high school in Memphis.
Yup what a get. No recruiting experience, no college or NBA coaching experience, no compliance experience, no real travel or media experience as a coach.

This sounds like more local media guys whining because Tubby doesn't kiss their ass and doesn't agree with them that he HAS to recruit all these NBA 1 and done local kids.

Penny has recruited more top 100 recruits to Memphis East High School than are currently enrolled in the this conference.
Most of those kids dont live the East High district. They've transferred in....including James Wiseman....#1 recruit next season.

Penny has now coached the #1 nationally ranked high school program and has been the head of the #1 ranked AAU program. He’s certainly done more coaching wise than Drexler did when named Houston head coach. If he brings his players with him? Top 5 class easy his first 2 years
You need to hire a real up-and-coming basketball coach. Don't go for the BCS/NBA retreads. If you just want an NBA guy that can recruit but can't coach grab Ollie.

I have no doubt that Penny can recruit, but his coaching experience is certainly limited. I watched an East high game that was on ESPN and those kids looked like they didn't even know what a box out was. Its just one game but they sure seemed to be relying on talent alone.

AAU is different than high school. Last year's team, that is mostly at East now got killed in the major tournaments. But they were playing young.

um, Lawson already plays for Penny. The Lawson family(that includes DJ Jeffries who is a cousin) are great friends of Penny's. Keelon Lawson is on sports radio in Memphis every week pimping Penny for the job.
Chandler Lawson would be the most likely of any of those forementioned recruits.
