Surprised I hadn't seen this said before. I mean, HOW LONG does it really take to do a security clearance with a cooperating person?????

Taking a year is just showing the people aren't doing their job. When Trump finally gets his initial people cleared, he needs to go down to the security office and tell a bunch of people, "You're fired!"

"The security clearance process has tied the Trump administration in knots — and that is exactly what the bureaucrats running the White House personnel security office intended, said a lawyer who has been battling the office.
The problem is a small group of career bureaucrats holed up in the Old Executive Office Building who turned security reviews into quicksand to ensnare President Trump’s team, said Sean M. Bigley, a federal security clearance lawyer who represents several senior administration officials caught up in the process.
“The security clearance process is being weaponized by anti-Trump bureaucrats who are using it as a tool to not only thwart the president’s agenda but to prevent him from installing appointees who will execute it,” Mr. Bigley told The Washington Times...."
There is a huge backlog. A year has been par for the course for at least the last 5 years.

Oh my! a lawyer says it so it has to be true, right? Couldn't possibly be self serving spin, now could it?
You think people aren't being honest and that is what is causing the slow down, maybe just maybe.
Mr. Bigley? Really? April 1st already?

Slowing them down, then having fake news write stories about how no one can get approved.

Same with Trump's nominees.
It took about a year and a half for me to get my full clearance. Was on interim for over a year. Definitely a slow process right now.
This is great - I am an intern in the White House..... !!!!

Wait - what? I will start my real job next year before I can start my internship?????

Talk about fake news!

Perhaps you can also whine about the process for replacing Scalia slowing down a bit, huh?

trump and his band of unqualified minions have no one to blame but themselves here.

You mean the fact a lame duck president can't appoint a Supreme Court Justice due to a precedent set by Senator Joe Biden in 1992 or the Nuclear option that Harry Reid introduced us to?

Is it that one side plays by one set of rules and the other side can't?

Two years ago I got an interim in a month and had my full three months later.

Not sure if it helped that for the past 9 years I'd been in several systems that required background checks including military base access across the country, the FBI and ATF has a file on me when I was buying tons of explosives or the fact that I'm relatively young, and the worst thing on my record is a couple of speeding tickets.

Weak and ridiculous.

Truth and facts. I get it you can't argue against it because it happened.

There was no precedent set. No nomination was held up by Biden or anyone else. Hell, there wasn't even an opening on the freaking bench!

Quote:"Should a justice resign this summer and the president move to name a successor, actions that will occur just days before the Democratic Presidential Convention and weeks before the Republican Convention meets, a process that is already in doubt in the minds of many will become distrusted by all. Senate consideration of a nominee under these circumstances is not fair to the president, to the nominee, or to the Senate itself.

Scalia died in February.

And the record is clear. trump was woefully slow on putting forth nominees.

And Biden stated no nominees if election season had started.

No opening. No nominees put forth. No nominees held up. No precedent.

Crystal clear.

You brought up replacing Justice Scalia. Typically it's because you folks see it as a stolen seat. But now I see you're trying to dilute the post.
