After losing K.J. Lawson, Dedric Lawson, Markel Crawford, Keon Clergeot, Chad Rykhoek, Christian Keese, Craig Randall II, and Jake McDowell and replacing them with three freshmen and five JUCOs, most people predicted the Tigers would finish 9th in the AAC and would have an overall losing record.

Most people though losing the Lawson boys would be the end of the program.

Last year's team finished 19-13 overall and 9-9 in the AAC.

This year's team is 19-12 overall and 10-8 in the AAC for a fifth place finish.

Those people are eating crow today. Tubby Smith and the team have exceeded all expectations and have proven the haters wrong. The team is better now without the Lawson boys than the team was last year with the Lawson boys.
Two mediocre seasons. Consistency is not always an accomplishment.
Did that team break records like this team has?
And I'm not talking about the good ones.
They haven't proven anybody wrong.
Tubby isn't the right fit here. Plain and simple.

If 19-13 records satisfies you, you must not have been around when we were winning 25-30 games.

Wishful thinking......Tubby had 0 interest in coaching the Lawson's or coaching players that feel that they should be the focal point of a team, such as The Lawsons....If Tubby DIDN'T possess those quirks and put key pieces together with The Lawsons....This program would be on the cusp of doing work in the NCAA tourney, as apposed to struggling with the bottom of the conference for W's. (mediocrity) Esp for top 10 pay...

As Bill Self is a HOF coach, obviously he recognized the value of The Lawson's; has more accomplishments than Tubby and Gonna experience some successes with them in the near future.....Are WE NOT WORTHY....KANSAS wouldn't put of with this CRAPPOLA.....

So you missed the USF game, huh? We got punked by the worse team in the league.

Nobody is eating crow.
The way the Lawsons left showed a lot. What has happened since has been noteworthy. Is Derrick even in school? How many games will they eventually play at Kansas? Will they be successful there? Time will tell.
Wrong on all counts.

This years team may end up with a slightly better record because of the schedule.

You are absolutely delusional.
Better team, no.
More watchable, yes.
Acceptable improvement, nuh-uh.
TOGC is ******* retarded

We were predicted to be 9th in the league...we finished 5th.

But...the worst Ken pom rated team a Josh Pastner's team lost to was 90th...and we thought that was terrible and unacceptable.
People confronting Josh's wife, insisting they leave and move on.

Now...two years later we lose to a 300+ rated team TWICE...we're hit a new low. SMH

Well you are consistent. But I'm not sure why you take such pleasure in bashing players.

You bad mouthed DJ incessantly for weeks after his college career ended....absolutely ripped that player apart--just to prove how stupid you thought some of the fans were who hoped he would be drafted.

Somebody has that quote from Josh in their sig, "Memphis basketball is bigger than any one person". Well, it's nowhere near as big after two people.
This year's team would have been better with the Lawsons and Markel.

03-lmfao
Not so much. The scheduling is easier. Last year's team beats this team by 12-15...

I think most fans would've rather seen their coach add a few higher-ranked recruits and not lived up to expectations, than to see him recruiting talent not expected to do well, then been excited, like you are TOGC, when they don't do as badly as predicted.
kenpom 164 this year
Kenpom 101 last year

Thread fail.

And we aint going to the nit or Ncaa tourney.

This isn't what we hired Tubby for. You don't pay a guy 3million a year for this performance. Tubby was hired to take us to another level.

Oh and Worst home attendance since 1969.

exceeded all expectations my butt.
