No haiku can express what sort of season our friends from Akron have struggled through. After losing Coach Dambrot to....wait for it....DUQUENSE and losing a couple of decent players who decided to bolt for greener pastures, the Zips find themselves in a tie for last place in the Mid American Conference standings.

The Flashes enter the contest winners of their last two and with an outside chance of earning a bye into the Mid American Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. Should Kent State take care of Akron and Northern Illinois (you know, the team that Akron is tied for last place with) knock off Ball State, we could be at Flannery's next Thursday.

The key to this game is to push the opponent to play 40. Due to a lack of talent and any sort of depth, the Zips have been unable to hold onto leads or finish off opponents with any sort of consistency this season.

Should the Flashes fall short, the win would be Akron's 12th win of the year. 12 wins will likely keep the Zips out of the NIT...the only tournament in which they have ever known success.
Look at our road record and nothing can be taken for granted.
akron gave us a game at the mac center a few weeks ago.. no reason to think this will be an easy win.

ksu excels at close, hard-fought games. ksu wins by 2 pts.

need zabo to contribute 17 plus pts
need pippen to have another double double
need de la rosa to stay out of foul trouble & not do anything stupid (technical foul.)

i like this team :) :)

go flashes!!04-rock04-rock

i don't expect NIU to pull the upset vs ball state.
5 seed is a good place to be.
Just checking in to see how Akron's doing this year....

Keith Dambrot has them at 16-14 for the year....sorry, that's at Duquense

Antino Jackson has 10ppg....oh, wait that's at New Mexico

Aaron Jackson, 1.29 ppg, never mind, that's at East Carolina

Noah Robotham, wait that's UNLV

Josh Williams...sitting out at Robert Morris

Kwan Cheatham Jr does have 11.6 ppg for "Kangoeroes Basket Willebroek" in Belgium. Isaiah Johnson has 10.5 ppg in 8 games for KFUM Nassjo Basket in Sweden
Fallsdog you could retire after that post. Perhaps your finest hour.

Thanks Jim. But I’m gonna hang on a while longer in large part due to mmucha bringing some good juju to the board. Plus, until Softball season I have “too much time on my hands.”
Just thinking, who was the Akron kid Al Fisher blocked the game winner in 2008? He had a hot hand from the 3, but Fisher had his number for those 3 seconds.
Alpha-was it Nick Dials?? kinda cocky- never liked him....
7 hours till opening tip..

who's making the trip out to the JAR?

pippen 01-ncaabbs

If my ticket money went to Kent I would go but since Akron would collect it I will be staying home. I refuse to help them out!!

Yes indeed… Nick Dials it was! Still makes me happy just thinking about it as Dials was one cocky SOB!
I'm going. Best part is, win or lose, we get to come home while they have to stay in that decaying dump.
Leaving soon! Go Flashes!
That first half was some of the ugliest basketball I've seen all year. Bad defense balanced out by a ton of missed open shots. And that last possession was terrible.
Did he really think that 3 at the end of the half was going in? Too risky. The offense looks like crap. DLR seems lost.
Same old ugly song. Good news is KSU will likely win by 2.
When was the last time this game was not nationally televised? Been a while.
