Additionally, skipping the Enquirer and going directly to the USA Today page will result in 1 less click for the Enquirer... which is a net positive for all that is good and right in the universe. 04-cheers

Can anyone who is smart in basic math tell me what 2.2 million breaks down to monthly? I understand coaching is a 24-7 job basically, but my lord that is a lot of money. And I had no idea Holtman gets THAT much money. BRB, applying to be a coach.

It's approximately 183,333 per month. Or about $66k if you were to get to the NCAA Championship game.
How much is Dr. Pinto making?
Man OSU overpaid. How accurate is the study since it says 2018 and has WSU in the Mo. Valley?

We live in a market based economy. Salaries are dictated by what the market is willing to pay for. $2.2M is about right-- actually a little light for a coach with 15 years experience who has taken his team to the NCAAT eight years in a row.

Yup. Adam Smith nailed it 242 years ago.

I thought that at first with OSU. Holtmann's is artificially inflated though. His base salary is 3.1 million, but he had a couple one time payments of a few million each (assuming associated with his buyout and signing bonus) that brings it up to 7.1 million for this year.

Marshall's is slightly off as his salary bumped up to 3.5 million this year so it just depends on when they are saying this is effective.

$660K/year-- again market driven.

I would look at this list as ROI. Which coaches are using the market to fleece a University vs. who is earning their check. I think the top 7 are definitely earning every penny. Wich State is highest non-Cartel 5, followed by Nova and UC. I can see Mick using this to renegotiate. Surprised Mack makes so little. Probably doesn't sit well with him that Mick makes more. Wonder if UofL will come calling with a substantial raise in pay?

Agreed. His pay, and performance, are well aligned. It's a solid deal for all parties involved, IMO. He stands a good chance to up his pay.

They're not mentioned on this database, but I am pretty certain Kevin Ollie and Tubby Smith are making ~$3M at their respective schools.

I'd understand if Mick wants to keep up with the Jones', but if there is money out there to be utilized I'd like to see us use it to upgrade the assistant pool.

Due to their longevity together and their comfort level, I doubt that Mick would replace either Larry Davis or Darrin Savino unless one or both of the assistants were to get a head coaching gig. I agree, however, that upgrades are needed, but I also question whether a top assistant would see being an assistant to Mick as a career-enhancing move. There is no track record of Mick's assistants going on to bigger and better things. Mick going ballistic on his assistants or pushing them away when he wants to go after a J.P. Macura or Ted Valentine are likely not creating a climate where a "rising star" would be interested.
