UT Martin comes to Hattiesburg after losing a 4 game set to Troy last weekend by scores of 14-2, 10-4, 6-2 and 12-1. They have an interim head coach that took over on December 11 after joining the staff this past summer. The previous coach stepped down on December 7 so there had to be something else going on with the timing of it. I’ll add more stats and such later but that’s the quick info on them.

As a team UTM is batting .169 with 1 HR and 7-7 in stolen bases while only 2 players hit over .200 on the weekend. They committed 7 errors and have a team ERA of 10.12. In their 32 innings of pitching vs Troy they struck out 30, walked 22 and gave up 10 HRs.

Weather permitting this needs to be a 3-0 weekend.

Nothing wrong with an extra weekend series. Batting practice starts early Friday afternoon.

Per Munz, we’ll go with the same rotation that we went with vs State.

Hopefully we can get a big lead and get some guys like Och and Eubanks some innings.

The weather forecast has improved slightly to where now it's saying the rain chances don't go over 40% until after 11 PM saturday. There will probably be some scattered showers here and there but doesn't appear to be as bad as expected this time yesterday.

UT Martin is pitching senior RHP Dalton Westfall (6'6", 225 lbs) today. Last weekend at Troy he got shelled in 1.2 innings of work allowing 5 ER, 4 hits, 5 BB, and 1 K while throwing 59 pitches. He walked 2 in the first inning but got out of the inning. The 2nd inning is where he allowed the 4 hits and 3 more walks which did him in. Hopefully we can continue that for him today.

This UTM pitcher is absolutely terrible. Can’t find the strike zone at all and is throwing mid 80s, according to a buddy in the press box. He has walked the first 3 guys.
