Per CNN, the NCAA has notified Louisville that they must vacate wins from 2011-2015 where ineligible players were involved. This includes the 2013 championship season.

Probably just the beginning of a larger shockwave.
They also have to pay back all the NCAA tournament money they got during those years.

Precisely one of the more damaging parts of this. The fans will no doubt continue to boast that their championship actually happened. But from a record keeping standpoint and more importantly a financial standpoint, Louisville just lost what will amount to millions of dollars.

First time a national championship has been vacated.
(in basketball)

Could we say though that they gained conference membership in the ACC through fraudulent means during the same time frame that they were cheating?
That banner is coming down no matter what the fans say, and the Cruds will have to cough up all those tournament shares as well as any yet to come.

Good.

That’s what is lost in all of this. In the end they are better for it.
So does this mean they're regulated back to CUSA since they cheated to get into BE/ACC?

#*ck No. Make em join the A-Sun, after their mandatory 3 year death penalty in everything they've ever been good at.

I do not like them. Let them rot.

Ehh. Louisville was going to be a major candidate anyway for expansion. They have been a powerhouse for many years, not just the Pitino years.
A candidate for sure. You don’t think that basketball program’s success was a huge reason they got into the acc though? All their movement took place through the Pitino years did it not?

Louisville was a basketball power before Patino. And their football program was the driving factor for expansion. I'll go even further and say what they were guilty of doing had no effect on their success. They have always been successful.
They should have been in the ACC 30 years ago. Denny Crum won two titles and was in the final four as much as Carolina. Plus they sold out !8k seats a night in Freedom Hall. We can be snarky, but we were lucky to be in a league with them. You can thank the giant that was Gene Bartow for that

Thirty years ago, Louisville's academic standards made Memphis look like Emory. They were lucky to be in a league with us.
Couldn't happen to better bunch of blowhards.
Rick Pitino needs to look at the bright side. I'm sure he can get all those vacated wins back on his resume when he's coaching prison league ball.

They were lucky we let the "back" in the league with us after the shenanigans they pulled at the conference meetings where UAB and Army football were being voted on for inclusion.
