The Golden Flashes host and the Zips will renew their rivalry tomorrow at 2PM in a game that can be seen on the CBS Sports network for those who just can't get a hand on a ticket for this clash.

As tough as this season has been for the Golden Flashes, the Zips have struggled to find an identity short of a fan base who refers to the team who beat them in the MAC Title Game on National TV a season ago as a "community college".

Akron stumbles in losers of 5 of their last 6 and with a 4-9 conference record. They have gotten decent play from their backcourt but seem to lack depth of any kind under the hoop.

If KSU wants to have any chance at remaining in the hunt for a first round bye, this home win is a must.

GO FLASHES!
thoughts: more Zabo/ less Walker...hopefully success tomorrow.
If we're a community college then they are NIT U.
They must be. Their new President is one of 8 finalists for president of Central Florida. He’s done some good things at Akron but I find it interesting he’s already looking to leave.
Not the start the Golden Flashes were hoping for. But a nice job fighting back and taking the lead at half.

Call me an old man, and maybe this is the sort of behavior that some fans can excuse for whatever reason, but De La Rosa's little shove at half time was a stupid and selfish move. All it did was create his third foul and potentially fire up Akron.
This game isn't on ESPN3?
Cant say I blame him for wanting to go to UCF. Warm weather, pay raise, and I would assume a university in a better financial spot. Article I read said he had ties to the Orlando area as well. UCF is also one of the nations largest schools enrollment wise with over 66k students.
Its on cbs sports network

Reply to Falls Dog..I’m right with you! Two of our players in particular spent way too much time with non-basketball activity. Focus on the damn game!

I can’t believe they called a technical on the Akron player as well. He didn’t do a darn thing as far as I can see…
I suspect there was some foul language! Or maybe it was the token call to get "control back".

We have ourselves a ball game this afternoon.
Is this offense for real? The ball is constantly in the corner. The shotclock is constantly running down to nothing. Gonna need to get hot with the three ball if the Flashes plan to win this one.
We are simply not a good team...
Not pretty. But I guess you can't blame them for playing down considering the rag pickers on the other team. Too much Jaylin Walker and too much Jalen Avery at the end for Akron to handle. The best part will be if our friends from the other side can find a silver lining in losing to a Community College. Looking good Zips!

Why does DLR have to act like a jerk and Walker is always talking to the opponents bench, just my two cents

I do not know but we have discussed it on this board a few times previous this season.. From what I am being told, it is now a part of the game for many players. I guess this is how they express their athleticism, intelligence and sportsmanship...
The “foul” on ADL at the end of the half may have been the softest foul I have ever seen. I’m shocked people, including the refs, think that was worth a tech on either player. There is 10 times more violence and contact on virtually every play in the game that aren’t fouls. If that gentle push was a technical foul, then they are playing a game that has become laughably soft. The refs should have just stepped between them, said ‘go to your locker rooms’ and then call the game closer if need be in the 2nd half. Poor refereeing in my view.

The push was very soft but prior to that DLR started the confrontation by tossing the ball into the back of the Akron players head. Again not real hard but totally unnecessary. The refs can’t let that go. If they do, the game could get out of control and possibly turn into a brawl. Are you really defending DLR on the play?
We started the game off too out-of-control and got behind by making bad choices on offense, and making bad choices on defense. After getting down 12-2, we started playing better defense, and started taking higher-percentage shots.
I am not so sure that I saw a ton of high percentage shots for looooong stretches of the second half. But isn't it funny when your junior point guard attacks the hoop how good things happen? Imagine how much could open up for players like Walker, Pippen and the 7'0 footer if KSU started running more sets with Avery in control.
