This week's Thresher has an outstanding oral history of the 2003 national championship, based on recent interviews with Coach Graham, Justin Ruchti, Chris Kolkhorst, Austin Davis and Paul Janish:

It was great to read it in print, but the online version also includes some pretty cool links: Thresher articles from during the season (about the 30-game winning streak and the mini-slump that followed); the CWS highlight video; the ESPN recap of the game that knocked out Texas; and even the 2003 Sallyport article about the championship.

Good stuff -- and a great team!
Nice to see this come from current students. Too often posters here fail to recognize there are current students who do care about athletics.

I’d mentioned in another thread that the large part of the uptick in Thresher sports coverage has been occasioned through the efforts of Andrew Grottkau, the current sports editor. The 2003 oral history piece was his work. Excellent writer and an even better interviewer.
That is awesome! Great job, Thresher.

Pretty hilarious that the championship didn’t even get above-the-fold exclusivity in 2003. I guess Smoothie King was a BFD back then.
