Rockets women softball wins their season opener 1-0. Toledo pitcher Kailey Minarchick throws a one-hitter. Rockets collected five hits, stranding seven runners. Error-free defense.

The Knights dropped their first game against Liberty 6-0, getting just one hit.

Rockets take on Detroit Mercy Titans at 4 pm ET

Rockets top Titans 3-0 on another one-hit pitching effort by three Toledo hurlers.

Morgan State @ 11 a.m. followed by Liberty @1:30 a.m. today. Times are ET.

Morgan State is 0-2 while Liberty, at 2-0, has not given up a run, winning 6-0 over Fairleigh Dickerson and 8-0 over Morgan State.

If we want to make this the softball thread for the season, that's OK with me. But let me suggest we change the thread title to show what sport it's about. Seems to me thread titles should indicate what the whole thread is about. Maybe I'm just being dense again, but I can't tell that from the title of this thread.

Rockets split pair today, losing to Liberty 3-1 and topping Morgan State 2-1.

Liberty (4-0) hadn't given up a run this young season until they played the Rockets.

Rockets sit at 3-1 and play their final game of the invitational tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. (ET) against Morgan State again.

Rockets drop the final invitational tourney game 3-2 to Morgan State. MSU scored all of their runs in the the top of first aided by a throwing error.
Toledo rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run homer by Kaitlyn Bergman in her only plate appearance of the game. Of the Rockets' five hits, four went for extra bases.

Toledo (3-3) is off until the weekend of Feb. 23 when they take on Indiana State at 12:30 ET in the first game of the Western Kentucky Tournament, featuring WKU, and Wisconsin - Green Bay.

Rockets lost to Indiana State 7-2 to start the Hilltopper Classic at Western Kentucky.

Rockets bounce back nicely from the loss to Indiana State. Defeated Western Kentucky 1-0.

The softball program seems to be headed in a positive direction under coach Butler. She deserves credit for saving a moribund program. Can she take us to the first tier of the MAC? I think she has a good shot!
