Last place in the conference and we are now without our best player. Andre was the most athletic player I can recall at UALR. Maybe he is a head case. I really have no idea.
I have an idea.

Ya, I guess you're probably right. No coach dumps their best player without a very good reason. It's just sad that the bad apple is always our best player- Nick Zachary, Zach Wright, Andre Jones, Stevee Moore, etc.
In the paper, Coach Flanigan said the ejection from the game “was probably the last straw“ for Jones, whose “conduct has been detrimental“ during the past two seasons.

If it was the "last" straw, that means there were a lot of straws before that. Not hard to imagine.

Thing is, I was in the first row on the floor and didn't see or hear anything. Obviously, Andre must have said something to get 1 and then 2 technicals. But can you totally blame a competitive kid for losing his cool when his team is down 30+ points and getting embarrassed on their home court?

The fact that you didn't see or hear anything means zero. The kid could have easily said something under his breath to the official that got him tossed. And since you keep saying he was our best player over and over, he must have also been our biggest screwup and problem to the staff since he arrived too!

Boy that is a broad statement. We've had some damn good basketball players here. For instance, is he better than James Scott? Or even a better athlete than Scott? And there are many others.

I think he is a better athlete than James Scott. But, not nearly the player James was.
Andre nor anyone else on this team could hold James Scott 's jock......

I can't speak to any players new this year because I seen the team this year, but there haven't been too many, if any at all, that played for the Trojans, that could carry James' jock.

I loved James Scott. But, while I remember Newell saying James might be the first player to leave UALR early for the NBA, he never got a sniff of the NBA. We've had, at least, a couple of guys who played rather briefly in the NBA- Myron Jackson and Joe Stephens come to mind and 2 with long NBA careers, Derek and Pete Myers. I doubt we have any NBA players on our current roster. I do think Cocoran and Lottie can be big-time Sun Belt level players.

I'm not qualified to what makes an NBA player and what doesn't, but I do know that James Scott was a better Little Rock player than Joe Stephens, and I only saw Myron for one year I believe. I also only saw Pete Myers for one year, and to be honest, I never dreamed that Derek would ever be the pro player he was. I said I wasn't qualified to judge NBA ability. College and pros many times are looking for different things from players. Lots of great college players never see the "show."
