Just another article pointing out the obvious. Spin it how ever you want, the Tubby experiment has failed and needs to be terminated. This is the year to do it and, like others have pointed out, can the guys who pay his salary swallow their pride and admit the error of hiring the guy. Maybe.
Maybe they won't have to. Maybe they'll come to some quiet agreement and Tubby will retire, protecting what's left of his legacy. Maybe they will demand Tubby makes some changes, he refuses and all parties part ways. Maybe Tubby quits, takes a year off, and finds a new job with less pressure. Maybe he's got his eye on something else right now.
Regardless, you'd think something's got to give. It's just got to.
We can always hope that I win a few hundred mil on powerball. After I cut St Jude a big check, the next one I write would be for Tubby's buyout.

I just cannot get over how pathetic it is for the head coach to continually throw the players under the bus with no mention of his own shortcomings. In all honesty why would any player on this roster want to stay and play for Smith? If you were Martin's parent or any player parent would you want your kid sticking around and playing for Smith? The guy blames the players when they lose and then credits himself when they win... I would not be shocked to see a mass exodus after the season and we may legitimately have a hard time filing even 10 roster spots next year...
I surmise it will be fodder for local sports talk shows. A summary would be appreciated, if applicable.

Calkins just tells it like it is and for some people that's just hard to hear.
If a coach doesn't want to come here because of a writer then he's not good enough to be here. You have to have thick skin to be the coach here.
