A white men's college tennis player has been suspended after a black opponent tweeted that his on-court rival told him "at least I know my dad" during their weekend match.
Appalachian State University in North Carolina issued a statement Monday saying Spencer Brown, who's white, was suspended indefinitely after Sunday's match with North Carolina A&T State University, a historically black college. Appalachian State apologized in its statement, calling the conduct "derogatory and offensive."
John Wilson, the black player who is also A&T's senior class president, said Brown made other offensive comments during Sunday's NCAA Division I match. The tweet included a photo of Brown.
I'm assuming the A&T kid won the match. I don't blame App St, I blame a stupid kid saying something stupid. App has done what is expected in today's world.
This is just fake news. Fake news people! I'm certain the WHOLE conversation went:
NC A&T: Hey, you tried those ancestry.com DNA kits yet?
App St: Yeah, they arent worth the money. But, hey at least I know my dad now?
Im totally lying. I have no idea. Sad story if true.

We swept A&T.

The App State kid actually won the match easily by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Not sure why there would've been a need to say anything derogatory to your opponent if you're beating them that bad.

"At least I know my dad" sounds like something the App player said in response to something the A&T player might have said. Still completely unacceptable to use a phrase like that especially when you're representing a university.

Yeah, I would like to know the rest of the story instead of one side of it. Not saying the App State kid didn't instigate the whole thing, because he possibly could have... but his reply sounds like some things were said from the opposite side.
Also don't like the fact that the A&T kid posted the App State player's picture and name publicly on Twitter and said "black twitter, do ya thing." You KNOW the App State player has probably received death threats because of that tweet, which isn't right AT ALL. In those regards, the A&T player is just as immature as the App State player.
I haven’t looked into it, but I heard that the App kids dad had some questionable stuff on Twitter as well before he deleted it. I reiterate that I haven’t confirmed this.
The moron has been suspended indefinitely as he should have been.
If you want to be an ass, do it on your own time. Not when you're representing the Black and Gold.
Glad he was kicked off the team and not forced to issue a public apology.
Making racially insensitive remarks is worse than child molestation, murder, and rape combined!

What? Did you intend to have your sarcasm font on? I sure hope so. The comment was stupid but that last statement you made....WOW

Yeah, that comment doesn't really play well sarcastically or literally but probably better sarcastically.
I just want to know if he retorted about how well he (NC A&T kid) knew the App kid's mother.

Yup...it generally starts when someone makes an offhand comment like black twitter that will make a conversation go left...

I recall making stupid comments responding to some provocative behavior back in the day but we'd settle it then and there. Now a days rather than some heated exchanges they publish their grievance on social media and call their attorney claiming hurt feelings.
If the kid was permanently suspended tack on one more stupid move that may actually bring restitution.

EDIT: Ehhh... That account doesn't look too credible, lol
Yeah the oldest tweet the profile had is from an hour ago. I think someone is just trying to make him look worse.
NPR is reporting that racism has now ceased to exist thanks to pasty white kid with bad photo being suspended. Thank God! No more racism!
On the surface it has the appearance he was baited into an exchange. Still, he should have not allowed himself to be lured into one. At the end of the day he's a kid who said something stupid. I've heard much worse coming from black adult mouths. Checking the A&T guys Twitter page it's obvious he's politically motivated. I also question why it took 5-6 hours to institute his Twitter attack. I've been insulted more times than I could begin to count, but I didn't seek to ruin the other person. You let it go and move on. Sensitivity is at an all time high these days. But I'm an old fart, what do I know?
