Irregardless vs regardless ---- means the same f-ing thing!

It was not a real word in the dictionary until a few years ago .... people insisted on using it and they caved and added it - in a CYA they labeled it as non standard....

(12-16-2020 08:49 PM)olliebaba Wrote: [ -> ]JR, you're problem is that you're married to a woman and that started many moons ago with Adam and Eve and it's not gonna change...ever.

My biggest peeve is when I'm working on something and my wife interrupts me for help. I realize that she can't do very much because of her illness but she's been doing this even before she fell ill. When I'm working I HATE to be disturb because like with you it throws off the karma or flow of my work.

Yesterday I was cleaning house and even though I HATE housework I realize that if I don't do it it won't get done and don't tell me to get professional help, that's not gonna happen as I hate people working in and outside my house. I'm a very private person and so is my wife. They won't clean to our standards to begin with and I would hate to be telling them what to clean.

Anyway, my wife has gotten into her habit of asking things of me when I'm doing something useful and that is a pain. I don't expect her to change so I guess I'm relegated to just griping and getting made at her. My anger or her's for that matter don't last more than a few minutes anyway. Too bad your wife isn't like that but oh well, different wives think differently.

Well, every man's situation is a bit different. I love mine as you love yours, but the demand for attention is similar yet dissimilar. They are both women so that's the similar part. Your wife has a serious illness and for that you've both had my prayers.

Never cared much for anyone in my home either, especially to clean. Had a rash of burglaries when I lived in Georgia. Turns out the bug man was casing houses for his friends. They didn't get mine, but sure hit a lot of others. My schedule was so whacky they could never be sure when to hit. That, and I required the bug man to meet me since I wasn't giving anyone I didn't know my keys. Today it's healthier anyway. The bug poison goes on the outside and not the inside and is more effective.

We share cooking and each have our specialties. We share cleaning though my wife's eyesight misses stuff I have to get behind her. It is what it is. But, I do miss fishing in the Gulf Stream. Therapy more than fishing and an experience dang close to Nirvana.

Due to not having a very good understanding of my own self at one time, I've had to do a lot of reading. Educating myself about how to be a better husband has been something I've had to do.

As part of that I ran across an article once that talked about how one of the most important things we can do for our spouse is to safeguard their private time. It was basically saying that not only do we act as a buffer for the things that try to intrude on that from the outside, but we also are able to show them this directly by allowing them to proceed along their own path as they see fit with only such distraction of us as they ask for.

Kahlil Gibran in The Prophet (probably top 3 of my all time favorite books) sums it up this way (bold is my own):

Let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

Reading what you wrote about your wife made me think of this and I felt compelled to share in the hope that maybe you can take something away from the fact that you're doing right by her by safeguarding her time.

Hope that helps in some way.

Not gonna have a “pull-up” with you either.

“Close the loop” is mine. Don’t know why, but it drives me nuts.

This is both funny and incredibly depressing at the same time.
Not really a gear grinder, more of a Andy Rooney-esque , “have you noticed” that restaurant/food service workers have become the new martyrs of the media and the woke? They constantly shame people for not tipping enough yet at the same time print articles about some random waitress getting $2,000 tip from a customer on a $20 order. I delivered pizza on the side for extra dough in my 20s back in the late 90s/early 2000s and wild easily pull in $100+ in tips on a 4-5 shift+ made like $5.00/hr. I really do not feel sorry for the attractive girl delivering my food at Outback; I am guessing she does quite well.

As always has been the case and what I even tell my employees in my industry today if you do not like what you are making you should make yourself more desirable by your employer. If that fails find a job elsewhere

What gets me is the girls at Chili's pushing that tablet in your face where it's asking how much of a tip you want to give. What they do is no different than what the people at any fast food joint does and they don't get a tip, so why do these jokers think they're better than those fast food workers? I don't mind giving them a tip but when the minimum on the screen is 20 per cent then that's highway robbery for someone to just walk to the parking area with your food...or maybe I'm just cheap or a little of both.

I have no problem tipping the socially acceptable 15-20% if the service is good, it has gotten to the level though that the folks on social media are calling you bad names if you don’t give even more. It’s the new cause of the day for the twitter mafia.

The girl you described at Chili’s is doing pretty well. She is probably young and decent looking so guys give her great tips. Nobody sheds a year for 56 year old Flo working at a dinner who scraps by in $1-2 tips per customer.
These dumb lockdowns. Surely Fauci & the other scientists have models that can forecast when this thing can end at best, probable, & worst case scenarios? They have so, so, so much more data then they did back when they initiated it.

Coming up on the 1 year anniversary of "2 weeks to flatten the curve". LMAO. Biggest scam in at least 50 years.....& they knew it was too.
Unfortunately they'll just keep "finding" new strains and start the fear mongering all over again. That and keep pouring Nat'l Guard troops into the Nations Capital to send the obvious message to the little people.

2 weeks ago that incompetent Mayor, Bowser I think, said NO, no standing troops in D.C. Well, Bowser, guess what?
Definitely not a gear grinder (hey keep em coming), but what is the deal with all the 50+ year celebrities posting naked/near naked pictures of themselves on Instagram and Snapchat? Is this financially lucrative for them? Has any of them landed a role after posting a pic of their bare arse?

Like I said though- not that I am complaining

It is a strange phenomenon.

The problem is that these people became famous when they were young. Most of these people do not age gracefully because of all the poking and prodding, and the gallons and gallons of product they have used to look "celebrity". As they age they start getting looked over and then they get desperate for attention - Botox, Nudes, outrageous clothing.... Then they look dumb.

Their time has passed but they are so egocentric that they are starving for the attention. It is like spandex.... For a while you can pull those off, but eventually you can't but you still put them on anyways.
Latinx.

A made up word for Hispanics. Or Latins. Its like something some white gay progressive college professor made up.

My grandfather called himself Latin. What's wrong with that?

Latinx isn't even real grammar. An X for a syllable. Has anyone heard any non politician Hispanic call themselves that?

Common sense is racissss
Looked it up. According to goodhousekeeping (why they would have definitions I don't know), Spanish queers came up with the term.

Pretty much. I have family in Puerto Rico, in Miami and in NY. Never heard that term until about a year ago and that was from my cousins’s 20 year old son.

Here is an interesting article from billboard. This term is a US contrived thing.

The Local News Casts are driving me crazy more than normal....

These Anchors with their fake news voices are laughable.
They over speak many words to sound intelligent.
The weatherman need to remind me to bring an umbrella because it is raining or dress warm when it is cold outside
Then they always end each broadcast with some really dumb banter

It is like watching Anchorman but in real life.

You are so right. I haven't watched local news in a while now and I don't miss it at all. They're all a bunch of idiots on the local level and repeat what they are told to say. That's why they should be called "repeaters" instead of reporters. They're all on the Demoncraptic train anyway so why should I subject myself to local yokels repeating what the national news idiots tell us is happening when they choose what to show us and not all of it. How many people I wonder who are Leftists are even aware of the riots in Portland, Seattle and elsewhere? I know that they don't show that in the local news either.

So I say hit 'em where it hurts in the viewership, don't watch it. Get your weather report from your cell.

Doesn't "grind my gears," but I really don't like seeing overweight anchors and weatherwoman wearing skin tight dresses. We don't need to see every roll of belly fat. Wear something more flattering.
Everyone's getting the vaccine. WTF are we still locked down & have to wear masks?!??!?!? Why isn't anyone saying anything about it???

If we're still locked down & have to wear masks by, let's say August, we're ******* screwed.
