Women's Tennis...3-0 on the season with 6-1 wins over West Virginia and Penn State, each on the road, this past weekend.

Nice!
great job JMU Women's tennis
Spring sports off to a great start...

...WLAX with the big upset today over #3 UNCheat.

MTEN wins today at Hofstra to start the CAA schedule at 2-0 (and is 4-1 overall). WTEN wins at Navy yesterday and at Howard today to stay undefeated at 5-0 now.
Women's Tennis defeated Xavier down in Orlando this morning to move the overall record to 10-0. Nice!

Also in Orlando, the 9-2 Dukes Men's Tennis team has a match against Sacred Heart coming up at 3:30pm (moved back from 11am scheduled start today due to rain).
Maybe we're getting some UVA leftovers? Which isnt a slight - they may have the best program in the country and an incredible facility.

Agree, something they work to do that we work hard on as well, is keeping all our programs near the top. Their weakness is football and ours is MBB. Certainly we both have other programs that are weak and fall below where they should be, but those two contribute little to the success of each school's athletics.
WTEN skunks Sacred Heart, 7-0, to move the season's record to 11-0. Nice!!
Any correlation to their new indoor facility perhaps?
WTEN: 11-0 (almost halfway through the season)
MTEN: 10-2 (over halfway through the season)

I would think this is the best combined start in the two programs' history. I mean...really...is it the new indoor facility giving us some better practice? Looks like WTEN has been steadily improving since the coach got here a few years ago. Looks like the MTEN coach (Secord, former JMU player) has been here awhile and has good and bad season...hopefully this will be a consistent turn towards the better.
Alvaro Arce, freshman from the MTen team, won CAA Player of the Week. Not Rookie of the Week; Player of the Week. That's some good stuff.

Both VERY impressive stats and recognition. I have to think the indoor practice helps, but it is evident we have some good talent on the teams as well!

Yep. All 3 freshmen for WTEN are contributing in a big way. One of them is at #2 singles and is undefeated in that slot on the season.
Sure helps recruiting when you're fully funding all possible scholarships and improving the playing and practice facilities. I know Secord has fought hard for many years with less than a full arsenal, and it sure is nice to see the program doing so well now.
WTEN loses first match of the season (5-2 to North Florida). Probably should fire our head coach now.

Careful there. I’m supposed to tell you to take a chill pill and don’t be so dramatic. You’re not allowed to have an opinion. Cheers fellow duke!
looked up our women’s tennis roster, didn’t realize our top three singles players are 1-freshman, 2-sophomore, 3-freshman, with the two freshmen being 5 star recruits...only one senior on the whole roster...our coach is setting up something special.
Ladies crush GW 7-0, go to 15-1 on the year. Still weren't even in the Top 50 of the rankings as of last week...

Great start to the season. Haven't played anybody and further haven't beaten anybody worth noting so far. Only CAA team in the Top 50 is W&M and they are #50 in this week's ITA poll.
To paraphrase Dory: "Just keep winning! Just keep winning!"

I don't know if tennis is a sport where the rankings matter. Just beat your opponent on the court and bring home trophies when the opportunity arises.
