Tim Floyd was the coach at UTEP. I thought he would take UTEP Basketball program to a higher level. But that did not pan out. But can some of you explain what happened? (thanks)

I hear that he couldn't stop players from transferring out.
It all started with a sick grandma back in 2013. Then there was the gambling incident. A great opportunity to go pro in China. God talking to recruits and ended with an angry father. In the middle of all that was a bunch of snowflake millennials that quit on us.

I remember back in Cusa 2.0 when the UTEP-Memphis game was a big matchup. Here's hoping your program finds a way to get back to the top.

Tim was reported to have been sitting in the stands with a couple of friends of his at the USM/Rice game last night.

+1. I'd really love to see UTEP get back to where they were. I remember them playing in the NCAA tournament a couple times in the 90's. We need UTEP basketball. And football.
This years events were not exactly the way UTEP fans wanted things to go but the end result, a new beginning for the entire athletic dept., is exactly what we have wanted for some time.

We wanted the AD gone and he retired.

We wanted a change in the football HC. Kugler quit during the season.

We wanted a new MBB coach and Floyd quit early in the season, right out of the blue.

So here we are, new AD that is very outgoing and totally into social media. Fans are loving it. The new FB coach, Dimel, was a bit of a shock at first but now with the social media active staff he has put together, recruiting news is a constant thing and very encouraging. Fans a getting excited about football again. We will have a new MBB coach at the end of this dismal season and fans are looking forward to that. It has been a strange season of huge disappointment and new enthusiasm and raised expectations for next year!
