Keaner was 6-22 and and 5-23 his first two seasons.

Rowe is 13-38 so far.

Some will contend Rowe is the better coach based on record; but if you handicap it for Keaner playing ODU, VCU, Richmond, and George Mason - and not Elon; the resume looks very different.
Keeners teams weren’t competitive. Rowe’s team is.
Speaking of Dean Keaner, what do you guys think of Michael Jordon & Scottie Pittman?

I think they are also two people that have never been in my kitchen.
Much better position than Keener.

This team is not as bad as many, if not most think.
Keener gets a bad rap. He was a good fundamentals, X's and O's coach.

Lou is getting good players. I think once they win a game they will then win several. Young and need some confidence.

Wasn't the MJ guy the one who had this strange backwards walk and I believe the Scottie person you speak may have had a bit of a bad temper and a bit too fond of a drink. Anything else you need to know my thoughts on?
I wasn't a fan of Matt Brady; but man if he can win with a team win where Jackson Kent is the best player then Rowe's inability to coach up players is really highlighted. Shame because he's such a good recruiter.
No matter what you think or thought about Brady, those 3 days in March of 2013 were a lot of fun and will always be remembered fondly by my family. It was a small part of my daughters decision to attend JMU.

Your years and school of thought are off. Brady never won on a team where Jackson Kent was his best player. Brady's last year was Ron Curry's last year. Ron Curry was arguably the best player in the CAA his Senior season. Kent was a distant 2nd best player on that team.

The late game collapses, one of which was completely handed to Mason by the refs, are to the point I'd imagine it's in their heads whenever they're up late. I agree that once they finish one and get that monkey off their backs, it'll become much easier for them to finish future games.

True, very memorable packing out the Richmond Coliseum in all purple. Likewise, that loss to W&M in Baltimore his final year told me it's time to move on. At the time, that loss felt WAY more demoralizing to me than any Keener loss.
hyper,

I was at that WM game.....and I agree.
I think it came to a head for me there because of a variety of factors, most outside of Brady's influence. I rode Amtrak up from Richmond & it ran a couple hours behind. I (foolishly) bought the whole tournament book.

I just hoped for more out of Curry. And it was really demoralizing to lose so definitively to a team we had just handled the week before.
In post season play you need more than one go to guy- more than one guy who can get his own shot and get to the rim. Those teams game planned to stop Curry and pushed out on JMU's 3 point offense. I also recall JMU being thrown off by the multiple 3 point lines in the Baltimore arena. I counted several shots from the NBA/Pro 3 point line when they could have set up a step in. It was enough to throw them off and they never competed in those games. Gut punch when you travel with your family and their opening game is over mid way through the first half. I remember seeing O'Driscoll and his family in the Aquarium the day after knowing he was likely out of a job and Brady was going to get canned and it was the right move- the Brady era had clearly run it's course.
This team is engaged excellence, enjoy the ride. The wins will come.
Wonder how Matt Brody is doing these days
