They only play each other once. UAB and WKU play the top 5 twice each.

North Texas also has an advantageous schedule in that they only play the top 5 teams once each. But they lost at home to Charlotte so I suspect UNT will not be a contender for a top 4 seed. But they could sneak into 5th or 6th because of it. If one of the other top 5 craps out.

While anything can happen, MTSU & WKU are leading and If I had to wager on it, they will likely be 1&2 in some order. And, UAB & ODU are tied for 3rd and if I had to wager, they will be 3 and 4 in some order.

Marshall will likely be 5. The rest, who knows.

Big concern for us is that the Marshall big man who has killer stats this year, may be back for our game. Less likely for MTSU. (As if MTSU needs another advantage)
Imo, Toughest 2 game stretch of season is up next. AT WKU and AT Marshall. Didn’t feel good about our matchup with WKU even before they added the two 4 star players mid season. WKU fans will have a different type of energy for that game having added those players. Marshall, well I believe, they have the best gameday atmosphere in the conference and don’t they have the top offense in the league?

Marshall had 5683 against Tech and 5683 against WKU. 5537 against USM.

They have always had better attendance than us. Even when they were bad.

WKU had 4837 against tech. 4654 against USM.

So they draw better than us but not as good as Marshall.

As for their offense, I haven't looked but Id wager they score more than anyone else. Maybe a good bit more than the 2nd place offense.

Lack of Defense has something to do with it too though.
It's funny to hear you talk about team's drawing better than us when you choose to watch the game at home.

When you get 38+ years of going to games come hell, high water or snow or ice under your belt, then you can laugh. Not until.

OK. I point and laugh at you. TV is to live basketball as porn is to live sex. Everyone enjoys looking at pictures every now and then, but it's not the same thing.

Since 2009 we have had some pretty mediocre years which has hurt our attendance. But for some reason we usually draw better late in the year for big conference games. With 40 years experience as a WKU fan I think Bowling Green will BRING IT this week. MTSU will be our biggest crowd of the year on Saturday, probably a sellout or near sellout. But after sweeping this three game road trip I think we have a great shot at 6000+ on Thursday. Barring crappy weather of course.
Since Marshall doesn't play defense and UAB only plays it sometimes, I suspect we will win 156-155

It looked like all the UAB students watched LaTech game at home. Or was something else going in town that day? I thought maybe students were being quarantined with flu?
The schedule presents a rare chance to improve our RPI during the conference season. Beat them both, Blazers!

They were there, but keeping their seats warm. I swear they look as if they are forced to attend games.

I saw a student mention that since today is holiday a lot of students went home for the weekend.
For most students going home for a holiday is every week.
Most lives within an hour of the school...the cause is much easier to understand....they aren't interested...
Thought the Student section actually looked respectable and in the day in which we live, thought the crowd for the LA Tech game was pretty competitive. Did not check the numbers but thought it looked better then the Memphis turnout. Unless we can get Auburn Fans out of Birmingham to come to the game don't see much of a more turnout unless you turn it into the Pepsi Arena and sell Beer.
Auburn, Alabama fans are well represented.. Check the many vehicles with decals from other schools on the property. UAB employees and students do not show up.

The section looked respectable because someone made the decision to let some of the youth league visitors sit in the student section. There were very few students there.

Is UAB even in session right now? Both my daughter's and son's universities don't start spring semester until the last week of this month.
It may have been the weekend before school starts.

Jacksonville State started back last week.

This would matter IF we were in striking distance of an at large bid. We are not even close so I just see it as an impediment to an auto NIT bid by winning the regular season. Its still possible but unlikely.

I guess the best case scenario for the conference might be for WKU & MTSU to just dominate the conference and get by with like 15-3 records and both possibly earn at large bids and then UAB or ODU or Marshall or someone else to win the conference tournament.

But the chances of CUSA getting 3 teams in is just very, very remote.

WKU & MTSU played the schedule to put themselves in contention but I just don't think they are strong enough to go 15-3 or 16-2 each this year.

UAB can still win the regular season by going 17-1 or 16-2. But, again, that just seems very unlikely because we are not head & shoulders above the other 4-5 contenders.

Winning both games this week would make me a believer.
It does matter related to seeding, once we win the tournament.
