They give up a bit (Joe Musgrove and 3 prospects) but man all of a sudden, the Astros aren't fooling around. I guess they decided winning the World Series was sort of fun and they want to try it again in 2018.
Houston teams always go back to back.

Oilers 1960-61
Aeros 1974-75
Rockets 93/4-94/5
Comets 97-98-99-00
Dynamo 2006-07

This is our destiny.

Brad Peacock is the #6 starter. Colin McHugh is #7. Team is crazy deep in the rotation. Michael Feliz couldn't make this team and Joe Musgrove was a 6th inning pitcher, maybe. Colin Moran is a AAAA hitter IMO. Absolute larceny.
I love the trade for the Astros.

I don't agree that it was too one-sided, remember Cole only has two years on his contract and was barely above league average the past two years.

Yes, and rightly so. They are striking (for another championship) while the iron is hot (Altuve, Correa, Springer, Bregman, Verlander et al. are under contract). 2018 and 2019 are absolutely the best chances in the near future to win another World Series, so it makes sense to go for it now. A string (even a small one) of World Series wins will set the club financially for years to come.

The Stros showed Verlander what was wrong with his mechanics and he recreated his best days through the Series. I look for similar results with Cole.
I think the trade ends up a win-win for both sides. Cole still has upside and I think the Astros have a good chance of unlocking some of it. But Musgrove was a top-100 prospect heading into last season who succeeded in the upper minors and just turned 25. He still has a decent shot to be an averagish starter and he was excellent out of the bullpen. Felix obviously has upside with his arm strength. Moran has only had 1 good season in the minors, so he doesn’t have much upside and certainly carries a risk that he will not cut it as a starter. But as the 3rd guy in the trade, he is an ok get. I am a little surprised the Pirates could not get more for Cole, but he hasn’t been a model of health and I think they will do fine with their return.

What championship did they win?

Great teams for UH, but they don't belong on the list posted by Baconator.
What is so awesome about the stros is how they built a team... wish more franchises would be this way. I'm a Sox guy always, but the whole throwing money at people to buy wins just doesn't sit well with me.

Excited for this trade. Excited for the future of the Astros. Yay!

they won the H-Town takeover championship. Also the bowl equivalent for sandwich boarding.

It was a mildly sarcastic jab at the boys across town... since they made (but did not win) 3 straight final fours(If I’m reading Wikipedia correctly). They did however go back-to-back with SWC titles in 83 and 84 so we’ll give them that.
