A team with a new basketball head coach. A team with two wins. Are we talking ODU? Nope. We are talking Univeristy of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners. Kristen Holt was promoted to head coach on August 12, 2017. The difficult to pronounce Luby Lichonczak was fired after four seasons.

When you have a match up of two win teams, the stats aren't great to look at. Turnovers will be a big thing for this game. UTSA averages 19.0 turnovers a game and has two players who has more assists than turnovers. (although one of them has only played one game this season) There starters change a lot and so do the rotations. So it's hard to get a feel for this team, other than Heineman and Benson will be names you will hear a lot. Benson had a double double against ODU last year as a freshman.

This is a game where ODU might end up with it's first road win of the season. That would be good for team morale. And let's be honest, we don't want to go 0-4 in the conference. I look at the glass half full a lot when I write these match-ups...but I really think we have a chance at this one. But obviously we are going to have play much better than we did against North Texas.

Yes we can ,go ladies come back home with a road win
Thanks to a layup by UTSA with 3 seconds left on the clock, it's UTSA 33, ODU 31 at the half. Kelly Loftus coming off the bench with 11 points in 17 minutes is keeping us in it, along with Oigbokie's 7 points, 4 boards and Taylor Edwards 7 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. Still anyone's ball game!
Final ODU 56 UTSA 64
At the 2:05 mark in the 4th quarter Ashley Jackson scores a lay up to make it ODU 56, UTSA 57. Sadly...that is the last point that we scored. ODU loses 64-56. We were ahead by one point at the end of the 3rd quarter, 47-46. But the fourth quarter we went cold, scoring just 9 points to UTSA 18. Also going 9-for-19 from the FT line (47.4%) doesn't help. We had 13 turnovers, UTSA scored 12 points off those turnovers. UTSA only had six turnovers the entire game. To the good, Taylor Edwards finishes with 11 points, 10 boards, 4 assists. Loftus gave us 18 points. Oigbokie 12 points, 5 boards. Ashley Jackson had a 8 points, 6 boards. Perhaps teams are keying in on Victoria Morris. The freshman went 1-for-7 today (0-for-4 from behind the arc) For UTSA, Marie Benson has yet another double double against us. 19 points, 10 boards.

This loss is disappointing.

The team will travel home today and get ready for a "road" game on Monday against David Six's Hampton Pirates. Monarch nation...this will be the closest road trip that the team plays all year. I am sure the Monarchs would love to have your support.
