The ODU women's team will play North Texas this Thursday on the road where it's unlikely they will run into snow. The head coach is Jalie Mitchell who is starting her third season with the team. Expectations were high this year for coach Mitchelll's squad, however they have been hit hard with injuries. 6'3" Hannah Hopkins and starting guard Tyara Warren are both out with knee injuries. Bench player 6'0" forward Madison Townley has a shoulder injury. 6'1" Sr Tosin Mabodu had a knee injury late in her jr year, retired but will stay on the team this season. Also they have a deep bench, but they have a lot of transfers sitting out this season. So that explains why they have 18 players listed on the team's website. Not all of them will play....

#21 Deja Terrell F 6'1' Fr 4.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.2 apg, 45.5 FG%, 11.1 3P%, 46.7 FT%, 12.0 mpg

4 guards. They like to run.
4 out of 5 starters are transfers, Terrell is a McDonald's All American Nominee, and Holmes is a really good athlete. Smith for example was a junior college defensive player of the year in her conference. Bradley, the preseason Con USA selection is a transfer from the University of Kansas and leads the team in ppg. She is the leader of the team. Holmes and Goodhart are extreme three point shooters. Buckner is a nice player down low, but at 7-for-26 has one of the worst FT shooting percentages you will ever find.

This might be another fun game for the Monarchs. If you get rid of the three non-Division one games, NU's stats aren't that eye popping. But ODU has yet to win on the road
I just want to remind the fans that the Monarchs schedule is kind of strange. We play NT on Thursday, UTSA on Saturday and then will hop on a plane so we can play at Hampton to finish up our nonconference schedule on Monday. So this is going to be a busy week for the Monarchs, three games in five days, all on the road. Last Saturday Carolina Bernardeco was dressed but did not play in the game. It's safe to say that the team could probably use some minutes from her. Of course at the same time, until she steps on the court to play an official game the team can always red shirt her.
Final score. ODU 46. NT 63. ODU committees a season high 23 turnovers and the Mean Green score 21 points off turnovers. Also ODU had a season low three assists. Which...is going to destroy our Ast/TO ratio. Low points. Victoria Morris, the team's leading scorer went 0-for-4 in 39 minutes of action, no points. Our insider Oigbokie 2 boards, 6 points in 30 minutes. On the positive MaKayla scored a career high 19 points, scoring 15 points (out of our 24 points) in the first half. Carley Brew gave us 10 boards.

Next game could be interesting for the Monarchs. UTSA is 2-13 (0-3). Kind of a similar record to ODU's. One of those wins was against a non division one team and the other win was against a team that is 0-15.. Go Monarchs.
I don't know who you are, but I give you a lot of credit. It can't be easy coming onto this board game after game and getting little to no response. Thanks for your contribution.
Do you all think we should redshirt Bernadeco ? I heard it must be in the back of mccrays mind from announcers and she hasn't played a game yet?
I think in a rebuilding year, especially with as few players as we have, everyone should be playing to get game experience. But since she's not playing, you may as well redshirt her (unless someone gets injured) at this point.

She wasn't completely healthy last Saturday. They were talking about playing her this week. Right now, they are desperate for players to put on the floor. If she is healthy and can contribute, I think they use her. She's just a Jr., so this isn't her final year. If Nikki continues to recruit well, I don't think she is valuable enough for her to want to extend her scholarship out another year. Nikki has shown she won't take players just to fill scholarships.

In that case maybe they should start playing her as still a lot of games left
