Don't let the 5-9 record fool you. This is a tough schedule and the 49ers lost two games to teams ranked in the top 50 RPI by one point, and one team in the top 100 by two points. If you are looking for common opponents, ODU and Charlotte are both 2-0 against Coppin St and South Carolina St. So...we have that going for us.

Ransom is from Landstown HS in Va Beach, VA. Pearson is from Hampton HS. The 49ers love to go inside. And since they have a starting forward team that is 6'3" and 6'4", why not? They like to penetrate and go inside. From the outside, Linney and Ransom are the team's best three point shooters. This will be a challenge since ODU doesn't have the length that the 49ers have. Rebounding will be critical. The good news is that don't play a lot of players, so the depth should be about the same. Wilson is having a nice solid season for a freshman. Raventos that is the team's leading scorer though and she is the one you have to guard because she does a little bit of everything.

Yes away from Charlotte the 49ers are 0-7 on the season. Then again, it was a tough road schedule that they did play. Usually the 49ers have a pretty good road attendance at the Ted. With two local players, I would expect similiar support. At the end of the day, thsi could be a fun game for the Monarchs. For those that can't make it due to ice on the road, remember that it will be on ESPN 3.

Freshman Victoria Morris is 3 three's away from tying TJ Jordan 47 for a freshman. I don't have the stats, but that might be the most threes by a women's players in her freshman year. For her career, she has 177 points. To give you an idea.....
#10 on the all time freshman list for points scored is Nyree Roberts with 266. Morris is 89 points away. The Monarchs have 16 games on the schedule, not counting postseason. (if we go....) So yes I do think Morris can crack the top ten for all time scorers as a true freshman at ODU. Only time will tell...
Does anyone know the status if Bernadeco is returning from injury or being redshirted this season at this point.

An extra body would be nice

I believe Nikki said last week she was a couple of weeks away.
The real question is what is going on with Kelly Loftus? Is she still hurt or just lost confidence? She was looking like a great outside shooter, who really helped to free up others, especially with Victoria Morris, because they both drew defenders. She hurt her hand or wrist early on and hasn't shot well since then. I noticed her being reluctant to shoot and passing off open looks in SC State game and Nikki was all over her about it. We sit close enough to the bench that we could hear her yelling for her to shoot and her telling her on the bench, "Shoot the ball! I don't care if you 0-20! Shoot the ball!" I noticed last night she was 0-3. I hope she finds her shot soon. She looked super promising and since she is a senior, this is it.

She is warming up today, but probably won’t play until next week .

How's she looking as she warms up
There is music during every stoppage of play (and sometimes during play) on the ESPN3 stream. Is that in the arena or just on ESPN3?
And it's official. Final Score, CHA 63, ODU 60. The game was tied 58 at the 1:07 mark. ODU had plenty of chances down the stretch. This is the first time that we played a game that was actually close in the closing minute of play. So it's a learning experience of sorts. Timmons leads ODU with 18 points and 6 assists. Morris had 4 threes to pass TJ Jordan.'s mark of 47 threes by a freshman, finishing the game with 14 points. Oigbokie had 6 points and 2 boards as she was held in check by the 49ers big two. Ashley Jackson had 12 points, 7 boards, 4 assists. Carley Brew had 6 boards. Lots of blood in this game. I don't remember an ODU women's game stopping so much to clean up blood. For the 49ers, local product Ransom had 11 points, 8 boards, and some shots down at the end of the game. 7 points and 6 boards for Pearson.

ODU now hits the road to play North Texas (9-5, 0-2)
How did Bernadeco look warming up?

At least loftus made 2 threes and hopefully she comes out of her slump.

Even know our ladies lost again what are the odds of the scores of the men and women's scores in the game being someone won by the same score and lost with the same score.
Watched part of this game. It's already obvious the girls are vastly improved in some areas. Just going by eye test they look far more organized and in synch. Excited for the future.

When they ran out of the tunnel right before the start of the game she looked like she was limping.

Couldn't agree more. It was so refreshing to see players cutting away from defenses to free themselves up for passes. No more "standing around" offensive strategies that used to bug the heck out of me. The future is bright!
Carolina still looks a little off. I doubt she plays a ton, but at least she will be available. I think she is still a bit tentative on that foot, as well. I think she will be eased back in slowly.

Nikki is very tough on the girls and has them really working. She is trying to instill discipline in their game that hasn't been there before and will not tolerate lack of effort, ever. Those who want to be good will appreciate it and flourish. I have seen her coaching up close. I wish I had the chance to see it with Karen to compare.

At this point maybe they should redshirt Carolina so she doesn't lose a year
