I heard Dan Hoard and Terry Nelson reference DEFCON several times last night, saying that a certain team was desperate for a win, and thus at DEFCON 5. A minor thing, but it bugged me every time since DEFCON 5 is basically peace, and DEFCON 1 is the gravest situation:
The DEFense readiness CONdition (DEFCON) is an alert state used by the United States Armed Forces. ... It prescribes five graduated levels of readiness (or states of alert) for the U.S. military. It increases in severity from DEFCON 5 (least severe) to DEFCON 1 (most severe) to match varying military situations.
I was more or less quoting Coach Cronin who likes to use that expression, but it's always good to be accurate. I will use the lower number going forward.
So, which one do you want to apply to Bearcat Basketball; "Fade Out" or "Cocked Pistol"? Or perhaps you could use all of them in a sentence...
(Like, the Bearcats must play at a "Fast Pace," almost like they have a "Cocked Pistol" pointed at their head, when they visit WSU's "Round House," they better not do a "Double Take," or the fan base might just "Fade Out.")

I was going to say "Bruce, you are SUCH A GEEK!", but I like your answer better
Wait a minute. I have to rescind my compliment. After reading more of the responses, apparently you and I are in the minority, and there is no shortage of people who care
