Running back Bryant Koback, a 2017 4 star recruit, is transferring from Kentucky to be closer to his family in Toledo due to what sounds like a family health issue. Kentucky just cleared him to allow a transfer to EMU or UT despite being on the Wildcats future schedules. He missed this year via redshirt after an injury his senior year of high school. Possible to be eligible this fall.
Would definitely sure-up our running back situation.

We're stacked this year. Next year he would fit nicely with Turner, after Vann/Erikson/Banham all graduate........after he sits out his transfer year.

We should have a decent chance if he really analyzes the current depth chart.
Wonder if a sit out year would be waived by the NCAA? My first impression was yes but then, I believe, that his redshirt was more because of depth of KY's RBs, then rehabbing his injury.

I think this one could go either way, because he is transferring BECAUSE of family health issues.

As E'tough indicated, if he sits a year as a transfer sitout, he has a clean shot the following year as the feature back.

Sounded like a hardship waiver would be a real possibility based on the articles and tweets about his situation. I guess that then bears the question, is it a matter of which of the 3 schools offers him the most playing opportunity this year? EMU vs UT vs BG?

The question NOW (and I mean now) is the academic calendars at EMU, TOL, and BG.

If he wants to come to EMU he needs to move very quickly. I'll check the academic calendars at TOL and BG.

TOL: Jan 16.

BG: Jan 8.

EMU: Jan 3 (yesterday).

Toledo is the odds on favorite...Springfield, OH is less than 15 minutes from UT.

Koback even stated:

“If you’re going to go anywhere, of course, you want to go to the best place you possibly can, and that would be [UT] now,” he said Thursday. “So saying it without saying it ...”
