Football is over...I'll make this a season long thread on Power Ratings.

Duke/UNC at top Pitt and GaTech at bottom. Louisville is a mess. Clemson and Cuse surprising.

What is a "Power Rating" other than one person's opinion? Seriously, where did this whole "Power Rating" business come from? I'm getting tired of it because it's nearly meaningless.

That was January 2nd ratings. Now Syracuse, Pitt and Wake Forest are in the bottom three. What a difference eight days make!

Pitt will be 14th or 15th all season. Not sure where you see Cuse in the bottom three? Are you just trolling?
Seems like conference standings are a pretty good way of sorting out who the strong teams are.

Yep! That's exactly what he's doing. Cuse at #7 out of 15 teams is nowhere near the bottom 3.

Have you seen ACC standing lately?

This was a power ranking....not a standings. Yes, it seemed like a troll.

I agree, although they aren't fully representative when teams have only played 3 or 4 games and we also have full non-conference performance to base opinions off of.

We of course have unbalanced schedules with only four home-and-home opponents. Duke has the most talent in the league, but plenty of ACC teams would appear to be on a hot streak if they were playing Duke's upcoming schedule. The Blue Devils just started a five game stretch where four of the five games are against Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. That's got to be the easiest five game stretch anyone will see in league play this year.
Louisville will probably be up and down all season.

It will be more "up" if the recent trend of Ray Spalding coming into his own on the offensive end continues. He finally feels comfortable in his role as the go-to on offense, and has shown a variety of ways to get his shot off.

It will be more "down" if the team continues to bumble their way around on offense, and refuse to show they remember how to play defense the way Pitino coached it.
ND had a good season shaping up, right up until Bonzie Colson broke his foot and Matt Farrell injured his ankle.

Still managed to beat Cuse at the Dome for the first time in 10 years. I dont get it. You got a great coach.
The Josh Pastner Troll Tour seems primed for another run.
It looks like Louisville's season will be predicated on whether or not it can hit the three. If they can, UofL can be beat anyone, if the three isn't falling, it will be a struggle.

Really close ND/Carolina game yesterday. 69-68, Carolina in a wild finish.

I was surprised it was so close with ND's best guys out. I thought Carolina would win by 20 at least.

ND seems to be better without those guys than with those guys. At the very least, just as good. You guys have very decent depth.

It was a good game. I thought ND was going to pull it out.

But don't worry. The Cards come to South Bend on Tuesday night.

The last 6 meetings of the Cards and Irish at Purcell Pavilion have all been wins for the Irish. Two of which were overtime games, including the 5 overtime classic in the year the Cards won the national title. (I can still say that, as the appeal on removing the banner has not yet been ruled on 03-lmfao).
Cards schedule sets up an interesting pattern the next 3 weeks:

at Notre Dame -- probable loss
vs Boston College -- MUST win

at Miami -- probable loss
vs. Wake Forest -- MUST win

at Virginia -- definite loss
vs Florida State -- MUST win

Then there are 3 games that are basically must wins, home games with Syracuse and Georgia Tech and AT Pittsburgh .... Followed by likely losses ... home against UNC, AT Duke and AT Virginia Tech.

Then host Virginia and finish AT NC State

It is VERY likely that the Cards finish this conference slate at 500.

That is a 10 and 8 conference record ... and squarely on the bubble.
I think that Louisville and Clemson will beat ND this week unless Matt Farrell comes back and is 100%.

Mike Brey said that he was hoping for 9-9 in conference after Colson went down.
