The Auburn/UCF game is very entertaining. Congratz to them!

Another example of a young stud coach (Frost this year and Fleck last year) that does well at a G5 then gets poached vs settling for Carey.
Harbaugh with another disappointment. He really needed that win. He seems to get beat in 2nd half and later stages of games alot.

Ofcourse he had to be only big ten coach to lose
Damn it!

Also props to Fleck and Frost for sticking around to coach their access bowl team before picking up their new gig. I wish DD would have done that for us...
Need a playoff system. If I'm UCF I'd crown myself national champions. Only undefeated team in 1-A and beat a team that beat an Alabama team that's in the playoff. If they make those two FGs they win by even more.
Yeah but I'm sure fleck and frost only coached their games because it helps their image for recruits. For most part coaches don't care about the kids. That's a bunch of bull s,hit

I also wish Doeren did this. Fleck didn't have his new job yet though, frost and Doeren did.

Only publicly. I'm betting his agent and Minnesota had already struck a deal by the Cotton Bowl.

I think it works for the players in the bowl, but for us, it really shortened the recruiting window to just a few weeks.

I would've loved to see the Big Ten lose all their games.

But if ONE team needed to lose, so glad it was Jimbo. 02-13-banana

Why? Aren't you from the Midwest? Figured most of us grew up liking some big ten team.

I love jimbo. I just transferred to gm of a hotel in college station...So he's good for business!
The AAC isn't going anywhere collectively, despite their dream helmet stickers.

But could certainly see a few stronger teams/markets getting the call from the P5 in the coming years. Big XII seems most logical. Memphis? Houston? One or both Florida schools?
Outside of winning, these up and coming coaches also infuse lots of energy into the programs and the fans really rally around them. I hope NIU’s next guy brings that. I think the program needs a reboot. It just seems like there is no excitement around NIU football these days.

Nothing against the specific schools. But it always irked me seeing MAC students and alumni wearing their favorite B1G bandwagon gear, even rooting for them vs. their own MAC school. And certainly the obnoxious Walmart Wolverines might be the worst.

Might not be a huge issue in Illinois... NW and UI aren't exactly national powerhouses and don't have that mesmerizing affect on the unaffiliated. But in MI and OH, it is.

Yeah you figure UCF will take step back. Norvell will leave soon but in meantime they may fall into power vacuum.

I agree I love that P6 marketing campaign. They are definitely best G5 conference. Yes couple of those 4 would be great invites. Maybe all of them.

I read an article recently where Frost said he had a chance to talk with Doeren in early December. Doeren told him not coaching the Huskies in the Orange Bowl was his biggest regret!
^Yeah I heard that on a broadcast too. But he probably regrets because he will never get a chance to coach in ny6 and it could have helped his recruiting.

It's not as bad now, but prior to this run of success, far too many on NIU's campus could be seen wearing ILL-ness gear. Huskie success coupled with all the losing in Sham-bana made a difference, but Northwestern stuff has never been that popular. Ironically, despite the continued slide, you'll always see Bears while Bulls wear has decreased; Blackhawks and Cubs increased thanks to bandwagon jumpers, while Sox stuff is in style with the hard-core fans.

I don't think they root for them vs their team but why can't they root for a team they grew up rooting for. Don't understand the Wal-Mart wolverine reference sorry.
Well done, Knights. That's how you show up for a Bowl game. Hope our guys were watching.

I'm afraid not. They were all on the beach playing with their bowl bling.

I'm glad UCF won. There was a previous comment about AAC teams being poached to a bigger conference. That's what I hope for. If a couple of their teams are poached it gives us our best shot at getting a bid from the AAC. There has been much debate if we could sustain a move but there's no debating that the talent is better there. Better teams, players, and coaches. Football and basketball. Now many proponents of the MAC will say that we match up better in the MAC and schools are more comparable. After the last couple seasons I'd now have to agree but would still love a chance to switch.

Yea we were in the best position about 3 years ago...before the budget crisis and the Carey era.
