This is huge. Absolutely filthy receiving group. Obviously this will make it easier on the new qb, but we need someone that can get them the ball.
Wow! Did NOT think that was a real possibility! Merry Christmas, Rocket Nation!

Now...if we can get improvements on the O line, I think just about any QB could be effective with the receivers he’ll have available and deep talent at RB. The new guy won’t have to be Woodside—just manage the game & get the ball to your playmakers.
AWESOME NEWS.................MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US.....
I think all the injured O-line guys who were starters will be back including the 2017 Recruits like Haslem. I'm so glad for Cody mostly.
Plus Cody will be able to work on his masters. Winning all the way around.

Mobile is mostly in the rear view mirror.

Onward and upwards Rockets!

"Exactly!"
Even with Woodside gone, there will be no shortage of quality QB’s to get Cody, along with Johnson & Johnson, the ball...
The paramount issue is to establish a nasty steamroller type of line... Getting past starters back, and staying healthy, will go a long way in 2018...04-cheers

Who were the injured guys that will return/ What is our porjected starting line next year?

Still my bigggest concern is the Linebackers. Just cant figure out how every team seems to have better LBs thatn ours. I would sign a Graduate transfer if we have to.. anything should be on the tablet to upgradet the position. Also need to seriuosly consider getting a new LB coach.

I have believed recruiting LBs in the 6’2” to 6’5” range would be a worthy goal. Watching Utah State’s line backing corps in the Potato Bowl against the Rockets was my conversion.

App St LBs were pretty damn big, fast and tough as well!

Having Y. Atariwa back will be huge, along with Cotterman, and Heidecker... We will have plenty of size next year, they just ALL (meaning the younger guys) have to become mean, nasty, pile pushers like ASU had...
I definitely did not think this was possible - and hope this isn't some premature posting based on conjecture or an "unnamed source" that is just hoping this happens. I guess I will take the philosophy of the character played by Natalie Wood in Miracle on 34th Street (keeping with the season) until I get a good source named. Until then, I can mumble "I believe, I believe...."

So just think of the receivers - Johnson & Johnson, Thompson, Fisher, Mitchel, Desmond Phillips, McKinley-Lewis and throw in some redshirts and maybe a true freshman that sees playing time and we have a formidable receiving group. Offensive line should be pretty good next year assuming it stays healthy - unlike this year. Somebody already mentioned Kotterman and Heidecker and Atariwa - who were all injured for most of the year. Doerger got a lot of playing time as a RFr and we have Berg who redshirted, hopefully see Bell playing more if he continues to develop at 6'8" and 345. He was a back-up most of the year and you still can't coach size, but you can coach technique and strength. Bryce Harris is back and will likely be the center, so he should start practicing snaps now. Don't know if Haslem is still with the team - I thought he was also redshirting. Don't want to count on true freshman on the OL, but we have 2 top notch recruits coming in that may be playing next year.

Linebackers have been reduced by injuries and a net loss on transfers. Not sure how we fell behind so much on recruiting talent at that position. Norwood has been oft-injured and is now at DE - assuming he comes back from his 3rd ACL tear. Not too often you can find a true freshman able to come in and be effective. So Junior College, transfers (including graduate transfers) is the way to go. We should be an attractive situation for a lot of guys looking for a good opportunity to be on a championship team and possibly have a run at a Jan. 1 bowl game - which really comes down to 2 positions - QB and LB.

Is there anything official put out by the University? He may have said he will come back IF he gets a waiver. The fact nothing else has been reported leaves me skeptical.

Just stop. He posted on his personal twitter account that he is coming back and wants to win another MAC Championship.

Now the next big question is whether our star Dlineman Ola Adenyi returns for his senior season or opts for the draft this year.

Ola is not big enough to be more than a late draft pick. Would expect him back
I gotta admit, I still don't understand this, but good luck to Cody. Hopefully one of the QBs will rise up to the challenge and provide him a lot of opportunities for big plays.
Cody will provide opportunities for Rocket QB's.
That is great news. Imagine being the new starting QB and having all of those options/proven weapons at wide receiver, tight end, and running back. That should help the learning curve.
