(02-28-2018 09:21 AM)Seahawkhoops Wrote: [ -> ]Bricks- I will say this, while i thought they were over rated early in the season, they are certainly gelling at the right time...... again. As bad as they played last night for much of the game it still took a miracle shot to beat them

They have gelled. I still think Elite 8 is their ceiling. Too many minutes for Berry and Maye...I just don't think their legs are going to be there in March, and they don't have the post presence Roy relies on when shots aren't falling and the game slows down.

They played awful last night. They were all very emotional; Roy was choked up when he walked out of the tunnel, plus they've struggled against Larranaga. I had a feeling it was going to be a long night. Joel Berry is a competitor that I believe everyone can respect. Not the most athletic, not the tallest or fastest, but strong, smart and a winner.

I can see them being a 3 seed that loses in the S16.
Joey Brackets had them as a 3 in the region with Michigan State and Kansas.

I obviously don't follow them close, but, in my recollection, this is the best 3 point shooting team i can remember for UNC in quite some time.

I think that is right...I'm not certain, but I believe this is the most 3's they've ever made in a single season. They'll undoubtedly be in the same region with Kansas, but please believe the committee when they tell you they don't look at story lines. I hope they're in the same bracket with MSU though.
I’d be shocked if UNC doesn’t win by 20+. Unfortunately I have an early morning almost no chance I make it past
halftime

Agreed. Woody was great. Good man, great work ethic and a beautiful voice.

Syracuse can't find another home soon enough. Their carpetbagging in the ACC has been disastrous. Yelling during Woody's moment of silence was "peak go-back-to-the-Big-East" as DeCock put it this morning. He also said it was fans, plural.

Heard about that this morning. Classless move for sure, there is no defending that. But, let's not act like UNC fans are saints though, I had no ill will for UNC until i moved here. That tells you something.

For sure. Every fan base has jerks. There is another fan base that has mocked deaths of Eve, Coach Smith, and Jason Ray. I'm sure the percentage is small, but I just can't understand how anyone can take any rivalry or sporting event that far. But you're right, it's not isolated to any one team. Just pisses me off and is the freshest.

Agree. Life itself is bigger than any sports rivalry. Many of these examples happen because of alcohol, many, just ignorant people.

How does the 12th ranked team in the country get the 5th overall seed?

You should know by now that the regular season polls have nothing to do with seeding.

They do have a bit to do with it. For the record, Cuse had ZERO business getting in.

You'll have to show the correlation between a coaches poll, or AP poll, and the tournament bracket. When has the NCAA ever said that they used either poll as a factor for seeding?

Whether or not you agree is one thing, but they rewarded Carolina for the most Q1 wins, the toughest SOS and their RPI. I don't think Carolina deserved a 1 seed even with a victory on Saturday, but they were in the 6-10 range heading into the ACC tournament before adding three more Q1 victories, including a win over Duke who was locked into a 2 seed.

I don't have a problem with the 2 seed itself. After those wins they locked that in, i'd say they were 7,8. But, most likely beating Duke locked them into the 2 seed ahead of Duke and the spot in Charlotte.
The committee is just inconsistent with how it handles. IT clearly used H2H to get UNC over Duke(more losses and lower finish in regular season). But, yet OK state Splits with OK, beats KU Twice and can't get in. I think i have more problem this year with who got in, who didn't, and hell my team is one of the ones that got lucky!

Oh yeah, I agree. It's inconsistent year-to-year and team-to-team. There is no denying that name recognition matters, and Trae Young's marketability is the only explanation for them getting in.

Agree on Young, they lost 9 of their last 12, with no significant injuries and got in. That's unheard of.
This is exactly why I agree with Jay Bilas and the the committee should already have their teams and most of the seedings done prior to the P5 conference tournaments. It's a system that is allowing the P5 teams to better their chances of making the tournament or bettering their seeding by getting quality wins in a tournament while Mids are left playing games that don't help their resume and could only hurt them (Ex: if CoC had lost the CAA tournament).

The tournament also needs to go back to the 64 teams and drop this "last four in, first four out" stupidity.

The only reason I like the "last four in" approach is that it gives teams like NCCU an opportunity to win a tournament game when their opportunity is low otherwise.

I disagree. All it did was become an avenue to sneak 2-3 more P5, middle to bottom of their conference teams in to pad the money flowing to the P5 conferences. I'm not a fan of it at all.

The first four bumps the single bid conferences down 2 spots in seeding.
