"I would be a little reluctant to get into a situation where we went to an FBS league and we ended up competing in the middle of that league. I’m not sure that’s really healthy for us right now."

The comments get closer and closer to CAA4LYF

"18-24"
"I don't have an invite in my hand"
"It's not if, it is when"

We would rather outspend and out build disadvantaged competition (a large majority of the time, there are a few good fcs teams in the country) than sack up, evolve and play competition that looks us eye to eye week after week.

I was not taught to fear losing growing up or by my JMU professors...What is our goal at the fcs level, when 100 fcs games in a row with three good teams mixed in each season?
Hazed get a grip bro that's a great article for us - not sure how you came away with any feeling other than pride after reading it.
Don't know if someone (maybe me??) has put this out there, but hear me out.

What if Hazed is a really good bot that just has a really short script to work with? Guys, it's not the bot's fault that it's incredibly repetitious when all it knows is JMU conference realignment content.
I think a large majority would be in the same boat as the comments in the article. Does the allure of FBS appeal to me? Absolutely! Does that fact that we would, in all likelihood never make a playoff or compete for a National Championship in FBS lower that appeal? Absolutely! In addition, does selling out our values (read Adidas contracts) so that we could possibly at some point compete for something beyond a no name bowl make it work it? Absolutely not!

I'm not all FCS or all FBS but I can easily see the benefit of both and right now I am really enjoying the atmosphere and experience we have and that has been awarded us solely because we are FCS. I know this is not a typical season and we are not guaranteed of this much exposure and games in the future but I can't imagine anything in FBS beng as remotely as exciting for us, we're not 'Bama or OSU, as what we've had the past 2 years.

ive actually thought a lot about this, particularly with the attempted election interference by the russians in the election through manufactured social media accounts. I wonder if you could totally destroy a college football fanbase by creating a campaign of misinformation and posts that would lower the morale of fans generally?

I would say we should do this to richmond, but they would have to have fans for that to work.

Not to mention fans that use the internet and preferably not once a week when they take the shuttle to the local library.

Heck, SpiderFather almost did this all by his lonesome two years ago.

All we need to do is track down Hazed's programmer and see if he'll work for us. Just change the name to BlueBayoued for Delaware and away we go.

It was a good article, it could have been a great article if Bourne had seized the opportunity to further energize JMU alum and fans by speaking with purpose and confidence.

The man has little moxie, Bourne and Alger have that in common.

I miss Ron Carrier.
Credit where credit's due. The programmer updated the content to reflect Carrier's passing.
I'm with PurpleHazed. Reading the comments from Bourne made me angry...what a copout!
Either he's a liar to donors in private (everyone says he's pushing as hard as he can for FBS), or he's a liar to the Washington Post. No two ways about it. Logic says he's lying to donors & the comments in the WaPo are closest to his real opinion of JMU's ceiling.
nah..i think he is handcuffed by the current state, and a super careful, risk adverse, comms-sensitive admin - but hell, committing to MH is our best sign of a move up.

let's win and have fun!
Great Article
You can’t ask for better press.
Awesome article, but also not a fan of Bourne's comments. Of course maybe that's not his actual opinion and is just his attempt at hyping up the current state of JMU football as much as possible.

You mean...like...he's lying??
Maybe he’s not lying. Maybe he’s recognizing like many of us that things have changed in the last few years.

Before fbs was more appealing. You had legit tv revenue coming in. And A better shot at a good postseason.

The last few years, the gap between p5 and everyone else has grown larger. The p5-g5 bowl matchups have dried up. The tv money is bankrupt.

4 years ago I was all for cusa. Now, I’m much more on the side of staying put and enjoying these fantastic and thrilling meaningful playoff games and waiting for the inevitable g5 implosion.

Anyone who doesnt think we will have a seat at a reshuffle is being delusional. Titles, espn games, gameday - two times. New hoops arena. We have only strengthened ourselves in the national landscape when reshuffling occurs. We don’t need to be in the sun belt to do that.
