Florida Atlantic sophomore RB Devin “Motor” Singletary is the recipient of the C-USA Most Valuable Player Award, becoming the first rusher to be named C-USA MVP since the award was instituted in 2008. He has put together the most prolific rushing season in FAU history, establishing new school records for rushing attempts (275), rushing yards (1,796), rushing touchdowns (29) and total touchdowns (30). Singletary ranks fourth in the FBS in rushing yards and leads the nation in rushing and total TDs, tying the C-USA records in the latter two categories originally set by UCF’s Kevin Smith in 2007, now FAU’s running backs coach. He has posted 11 consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing and the 11 100+-yard outings is the second-most in a season in league history. Singletary led the Owls to their first Conference USA Championship and the school’s first bowl appearance since 2008 with a spot in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl.

All told, the native of Deerfield Beach reached numbers this year that broke seven FAU single-season marks: rushing TD, total TD, total points, rushing yards, all-purpose yards, rushing yards per game and all-purpose yards per game. In just two seasons, he has shattered the career rushing touchdown record with 41 (it was previously 27), and he is already third all-time in rushing yards. He is just 183 yards on the ground away from the 3,000-yard mark in his career, and 253 yards from moving into second place. Should he reach 50 yards in the bowl game, he’ll rank second on the all-time all-purpose yardage list.

From what I understand, only four men have ever rushed for more TDs in a season in the entire FBS than Motor has. Given that the bowl game remains to be played he will likely pass two of them and, possibly three. The top man, Barry Sanders, with 37 TDs in 1988 is far beyond Singletary.
Never saw him play. But from his stats, seems well earned.
Future starting running back in the NFL. Hope he stays 2 more years but at least we have him next season. Well deserved
Congrats. Well deserved
Outstanding back. One of those that kills you more as the game goes on. Loved watching him this year.
I have nightmares of Singletary running over, through, and around UNT.

Well deserved award.
Should've been a Doak Walker finalist but a G5 player would need 2,500 yards and 35 TD's to get a mention.

Basically

Rashaad Penny from San Diego state had over 2000 rushing yards from scrimmage, including 700 all purpose yards 21 touchdowns and wasn't a finalist. If he was in a P5, there's no way he'd get left out. He'd probably have been a finalist for the heisman instead of Bryce love.

I think if Singletary posts the same (or similar) numbers next year, he will have to be Doak finalist. I mean, think about it, he has 42 TDs for his career today. If he breaches 70 next year, he will have so much notoriety! And if FAU has another 10-win season, he is a shoo in.

Of course, he will not win the award even then.
Well deserved award. He will definitely be playing on Sundays.
Singletary was clearly the best player in the conference this year. I look forward to seeing what he'll do in 2018. I have a feeling I'll get to see one game in person as I expect to FAU to be on UTSA's schedule next year.

I also noticed that FAU had 3 offensive lineman make first team all-conference. That's a nice problem to have.

Two of them graduate this year. We have competent back-ups, but they will need to ramp up. I hope they do.
