I strongly thought Alabama deserved it, but also thought for political reasons, Ohio State would get in.

ACC and ND winners with Bama getting picked. ACC gets BWW wing spot which will go to ND and ACC will keep the other Orlando midweek bowl.

It's the way it should be IMO.

That is why we have a 4 team playoff to get 11-1 teams in.

Ohio State is lucky to be 11-2...barely edging Penn St to get into the conference title game.

And then they fill up with three Patsys Alabama has the worst scheduling practice the CFP committee has just set the signal that your schedule does not matter

Sugar Bowl for Clemson. That's a real advantage for Bama, probably to sell tickets easier for traveling fans.

I expect Notre Dame to get the Citrus Bowl slot. They would have gotten the BWW if Ohio State had been in the CFP.

Worst case scenario for Big 10 and Pac 12. Not only do both their champions get left out but they lose the Rose Bowl this year due to the rotation

Yes, and also because of the Orange Bowl contract, they can't even pit USC vs Ohio State in another bowl either.

Oops, my bad, BWW is the sponsor of the Citrus. It does get confusing with sponsors switching from one bowl to another. For ND though, this is a very good bid. It's absolutely the best bowl that's not an NY6 game. They would have gone to the Camping World Bowl, formerly the Russell Athletic, formerly the Champ Sports Bowl, had Ohio State been in the CFP.

Highest rated between B1G, SEC, ND will face ACC in the Orange Bowl - this will be Ohio State vs. what will probably be Miami. #6 Wisconsin to Cotton or Fiesta.

I don't think they can be. The Orange Bowl gets the highest available team among the B1G/SEC/Notre Dame, and at #5, that is Ohio State.

So by contract the Orange Bowl has to be Ohio State vs Miami (highest available ACC team).

2 times Pac 12 champ didn't get in
2 times Big 10 champ didn't get in (but one wildcard)
2 times Big 12 champ didn't get in

Maybe the Pac 12 and Big 10 will re-think their opposition to 8. This is two years in a row the Big 10 champ didn't get in.
